really stupid questin. but i need to double check

i recently fixed a oil leak that i was having from my oil pan. i removed the oil strainer gasket ( i was planning on replacing it) but i cannot remember if i put one back on or not...ever since the oil pan job i have been having noticbly lower oil pressure. my question is: if the oil strainer gasket is not installed will it effect oil pressure? thanks.

are you talking about the mesh that's on the oil pick up line?

From my personal experience, yes. I made this mistake the first time I ever had my 4g63 apart and had a wonderful time fixing it. It didn't make it horrbily low, but it was lower than it should have been.

My suggestion would be to drop the pan and fix the missing gasket for the pickup tube. Also make sure your strainer is clean and that there are no dents in the bottom of the pan.
