just swapped in a new clutch kit and i drove it for about 15 minutes fine no problems i was happy. but then on the way home, lets say im in first gear i slowly engage it then there is a really bad grinding noise like its hitting teeth really fast. and when i try to shift to second the moment i push the clutch down it grinds again then when i engage it into second it grinds again. in higher gears its fine........now dont think this is my gears grinding it is something else and im am very frustrated and tired of working on this car. please give me info.

Seems like you've been having alot of trouble with these (by the # of threads you've made about it)

Why not just pay someone from the beginning??

Anywho... make sure the shift linkage is correct and that its infact going into each gear

it does not grind into gear. it was fine for the first 15 minutes. im not gonna get raped by paying a mechanic a grand to install a clutch, i wanted to learn and i obviously did....the hard way.

yes i made sure i bought a oem tob. im pretty sure i installed it right.

when its just sitting there in neutral there is no odd noises nothing when i push the clutch in and out. now after it makes that noise it lurches forward and usually stalls. then when its off and i push the clutch in there is some loud thud and then its fine when i push the clutch in and out (when its off).

Ok when does it make the noise? Say like I push the clutch in and start to put it into first it does it then it jumps forward n stalls. Or I put it into first and start to let the clutch out and then it makes the noise and stalls. Please tell me when exactly you get the noise and if your moving or not. Also have you checked your fluid in your tranny to see if it has any metal in it?

i can let it up veryyyy slow and it starts moving forward just when it almost fully catches, it then makes a loud grinding noise until the clutch is ALL the way up then it stops grinding. and yes i have plenty of gear oil i just put in and i dont believe there was chunks of metal or anything that serious.

yea i suspect something with the pressure plate. its almost like the bearing is hitting all the teeth on the pressure plate???? but that does not seem right i have no idea at this poing and i will probably be parting this car out unless i can fix this, just need some help from dsm tuners :D

I would have to believe that dsm_pwr is right thats what I was thinking but wanted to make sure. First did you take your flywheel off? I hope so to atleast get it refinished. Also did you use locktite when reinstalling it and did you torque them to spec or just tighting them?

i could not get the flywheel off i did everything possible. so i sanded it down myself and left it on.

no used a huge breaker bar, impact wrench nothing did it.....now im uploading a video shortly so please check back to get a better vision of it.

With a new clutch and pressure plate the flywheel needs to be resurfaced for best results of the new clutch. The TOB doesn't sound like it's your problem unless it was installed incorrectly which from the picture I could not see. Did you do a proper clutch pedal adjustment after you bled the master and slave cylinder???

yes i did i adjusted it every way, i talked to a dsm tech at comp clutch and he told me it was the adjuster so i did.... still does it this is something i never thought would happen. i was shocked to hear this noise. it does drive its just loud as hell and kinda embarassing im almost positive something is hitting teeth, weather its flywheel teeth? or the pressure plate teeth...idk

e-brake was slightly up so i didnt launch forward. didnt really get to hear the grind in the video though damn it.

Ok well either way im thinking your gonna have to pull that tranny back out. I agree tob isn't your problem or you would have a noise everytime you step on the clutch. You didn't bend one of the fingers/springs on the pressure plate putting the tranny back on by chance or while tighting it down?

well i guess this is where my dsm journey ends. i refuse to drop the tranny again that was hell getting it back in. took me hours. i thought i installed everything correctly. it all looked right and i torqued everything perfect and i still ####ed it up.

It's not that bad man. Trust me you will be able to do it in half the time now because you know what your doing. Without being able to hear it drive it im having a really hard time putting my finger on what it is unless its some seriously clutch chatter but never have i heard that discribed like metal gears grinding and the car doesnt shake. So I am kind of out of ideas and your installed the clutch friction in the right way right?

yes i put the clutch flatside on the flywheel said haha. yea i was so excited to get the car to drive. what gets me is why the hell was it fine for the first 15 minutes. im gonna try and get a better video. come to think of it when it was really acting up im pretty sure i had it in neutral with the clutch down and it was deffinatly hitting something in there.

See after the 15 min is what really makes me think something like a bolt came loose but there just isn't really any bolts that would hit with the clutch only in beside flywheel but maybe im just not thinking right it has been a long day.

yes it has been a long day haha. thanks for all your help just wish i can get to the bottom of this.

I vote just spend a day pull the tranny and take a look because if its as loud and as bad sounding as you have discribed you should be able to see your problem right away. Otherwise if you just dump the car your gonna lose money and always will wonder what was wrong with it but thats just my 2cents good luck.
