Alright so I'm new of course, and I just recently bought a 1995 BMW 325i. It was deff a project car but for $650 I couldn't beat that.. But my question is I sanded my hood cause there was paint chipping off but now there's a shit load of spider cracks that won't go away.. I've sanded down and I looked again and it seems like the cracks went to the carbon. Idk if anyone else has had this problem and I'm not going to replace it right now.. Maybe clear it this weekend if there's nothing that can fix it. Thank you all!

If the hood is cracking, the resin is probably what you see cracking, most likely its wet carbon which is the way they cure the hood, the resin is probably UV damaged from being in the sun, you can clear coat it, but it may not take away the spidering, it may help it though. Or you can just paint the hood and save some money.

Typically with cracks, you have to sand them all the way down to the source, then use epoxy. If its in the resin, that's not too bad... but sometimes they are deep enough where you'd have to use carbon fabric as patches to being the surface back to where it is level.

I'd say experiment on it, as you can always just paint it; and save for a new one. :)

I just went throught this with a carbon fiber hood i bought for 60 bucks. it was painted gold. when i sanded though the paint and bondo to get to the carbon fiber it was spidered out in a few places, your best bet is to bondo over, sand and paint it. just clearing it will leave it lookin like shit. just my .o2

Thanks for the help guys! Before the hood had cracks in the paint to so its like the hood flexed alot or something? But I may have to experiment a little bit more, and I'm bad with bondo so I stay away from that haha what's a safe grit to wet sand the clear? I have 150 180 220 320 400 and 1000 but I know 1000 is to finish it up basically

Here are some pics of the hood
