Really need some help asap. Major problem!!!!

Ok my buddy is having a major problem. His turbo blew so we went and got another one and put it in. Now when we first started the car it ran fine we let it idle just so it would blow out the oil in the exhaust. We could rev it up to like 5k no problem. We went back inside to warm up. We came back out and no more smoke. He got in it to drive it to our work and it would not go past 2k and it won't even stay running without giving it gas. And it has no boost what so ever. He can't even get 1lb of boost. You can hear the turbo screaming, but it won't move what so ever. Could the wastegate be stuck making it have no boost? We really need some help!! Any thoughts would be great.

And when I stood behind the car to smeel the exhaust to see if I could smell coolant, and all I smelled was oil and gas. Don't know if this would help, but I thought I would just give y'all more information.

1.) boost leak test
2.) make sure you connected all hoses back.
3.) check wastegate, or something along the line of the wastegate. IE, MBC, etc...

Maybe a loose coupler somewhere just took a few mins to come loose causing a massive boost leak?

Almost the same thing happened to me one day. I was just getting off the highway and my car started to run like shit. Black smoke was coming out of my exhaust and i had no boost watsoever. i could barely make it up the hill then finally it died after i got up the hill. turned out my smic pipe was not on. it fell off.. fixed that and it ran perfectly again! =]

Yea this is exactly what is happening with his car no boost and black smoke. I'll check in it tomorrow and get back to you guys. Thanks for the quick response!!

I'd almost bet that what it is causing a massive boost leak.

I was just hopeing it wasn't bad turbo seals. It was around 16 degrees today and it wasn't fun doing it in the cold and I didn't want to do it agian. I really hope it is just a pipe the came loose.

Your more than likely okay, check all your IC pipes and couplers, and update us

The problem is more then likely the gasket between the turbo and the j pipe that bolts to the turbo. The turbo screaming is the boost leaking out of such a small area. If it was the intercooler piping it would not scream. Check that gasket, replace it if need be but make sure both of the bolts are tight!

Got it fixed, it was a intercooler pipe that poped off when he reved it up. Now it runs great. Thanks for the help.
