Could someone please explain this to me like I was a child. I cannot understand my trans fluid dipstick. I check it and I can't see any discernible level on it. The whole thing seems to be covered, and I know I didn't overfill it.
 
start up the car, and make sure its' run through all the gears, while warming it up to the 150* range. When it's fully warmed up and has been ran through all the gears, put it in neutral and pull the parking brake so the car doesn't roll away. Yank the dipstick and wipe it off, and stick it back in, leave it in there about about 10-15 seconds and then pull it back out. It should be very easy to read at that point, you should be at the "hot" mark. If not enough fluid, wipe it off, add some fluid, and stick it back in for another 10 seconds or so, pull it, check again, and repeat. Keep the car running and in neutral the entire time. Do not attempt to check fluid level or adjust fluid level while the car is off.
 
Like Dave said above and repeating in neutral not park. If your habits are anything like mine it's hard to get out of the car with the engine running without shifting to park. Fight it. Checking the ATF in park will read about two quarts high.

any one got a pic of a 91 n/a auto dip stick cause i dont think the one in my car is the right one??
