I did my 6 bolt swap and some say i need a 1g lower radiator hose and other say i can use my 2g. I used my 2g but its hitting the clutch thing, is this ok, or just get the 1g radiator hose?

Thanks

I hacked off the counterweight and used a flex form hose. Its tight but it fits.

But I would be interested in what others used.

I am having a simular problem...its tuff to get into 2nd and 4th, and sometimes likes to pop out of gear because of the radiator hose...

is it safe to hack off that big thing...i guess the counter weight?

Very safe. I believe RRE even mentions it in their "1g in a 2g" documentation as part of the swap process.

The counterweight probably makes it easier to get into gear but I havent heard anyone with problems.

I ran into the same problem. The guy who built/swapped my engine used the 2g hose and cut off the counterweight, but the one end-link still rubs the hose. I'm going to see about using a 1g hose this spring, OR trying to trim the 2g hose a bit. It looks like all it needs is about 1" cut off the water pipe end and it'll clear the shifter linkage.

Hey, I switched to a flexible rad hose and pushed it up against the weight. Works GREAT and IMO you're not compromising anything else. I'll get pics in a bit. fyi, if you rest it against the bottom of the assembly, it doesn't really do much because it's a pivot point.

What trans are you using? my 95-96 doesn't have the big counterweight there.

That's weird. My '95 does (as seen in the picture Eric posted in post #7). I wonder if it can be removed the whole way.

Mine came hacked off and I've never had an problem with shifting or the tranny. And I'm running a 1g hose. I tried to put a 2g silicone one on and there was no way it was going to fit.

Christ Toan, how many times this week and last have you posted your damn radiator hoses?! I'm sick of it!

Well the 1g hose doesnt work.. even if i did cut the counter weight guess i need the flexible hose

LOL yes, I've posted it many times, then again, I've been post-whoring a lot more than usual. ROFL

Yea man, go grab one. It's only a couple bucks and will save you a lot of headache. Bring the lower rad hose just so you know the diameters and length to get.

The 1g hose will definitely work with the counterweight cut off. Try installing it the other way around (flip the ends).
