Kreez
I seem to have fixed the overheating problem. Just a simple stuck thermostat and expired radiator cap.
A drive through the mountains on a warm day will be the real test. The car definetely shoots out a puff
of smoke on every start up though.

I took it around the block and smoke started to just pour out of the exhaust. An embarrassing blue/black cloud was
forming behind me. I started to limp it home and right as I get to my parking lot, it stops smoking. I let it
idle for a moment, but no more smoke. So I take it around the block a few times, still no smoke. I take it
on a thirty mile highway trip, still no smoke. It hasn't done it since and oil levels are still good, so I don't
really know what to make of that episode.
The idle surge has magically disappeared as well. Originally, it did it right after I put it in gear and
started off. It would oscillate maybe ten times then go to normal. I haven't changed anything, except the
coolant parts. The only thing I can think of, is that cold or cool outside air tempature is what makes it
surge on start ups. For now I'm not going to worry about it, I'll just add it to the list.
I tossed the dirty looking filter that came with the car and replaced it with a newer K&N. I also removed the
silencer and snorkel. I kept the shroud on to protect the filter from the engine's heat. The black OE air intake
pipe was looking rather worn as well. WeaponR makes a n/t hard pipe, but I can't afford to shell out $150 for a shiny
pipe, so I went with the ebay model.

Race day is in five days, so I'm hoping no more kinks arise between now and then
At least it finally has CO plates.
