The engine came from a 91 TSi FWD. Compression is good to so so at 140 across the board. There are a lot of missing bolts and screws on it, and it looks like a novice (kind of like myself) had been wrenching on it. Half of the valve cover bolts were stripped and it only had two water pump bolts on, etc. It also may have just been "stripped" for parts.
Since I don't care for rebuilding the whole thing, I figured, I'd just regasket the engine and replace bolts here and there.
So, new timing belt, new water pump, valve cover gasket, intake gasket, etc. This should hold me off for a year or so.

After

Issues: I managed to crack my new valve cover while tightening one of the bolts by hand, so I am not happy about that.
I also have discovered that a lot of these bolts have been stripped out, as there is silicone everywhere on this engine.
