Im sure youve already sold your car, but read post # 124 in the 5th page. You will be back, trust me, I made my little farewells and sold my car but I came back.

I just bought an 04 WRX, my talon was giving me more headaches then I can handle, I need a reliable car to get me to and from work and with the Talon I was never sure if I would make it there or not. I'm getting it fixed and selling it, My WRX has a warranty which is awesome. So I am moving on over the WRXtuners.com ... I looked for a long time for a 2g GSX but couldn't find one and this deal just fell in my lap ... just wanted to thank everyone for all the great information here and all the help, maybe one day i'll some disposable income and get another 2g DSM.

Have fun with this trans taking a shit. My buddy just bought an 06 wrx brand new. Its now got 8k miles on it and just 3 days ago it blew the trans. Launced too hard, slammed into 2nd, and bam, all he's got is 3rd and R. Thank god for the warranty.

Tell me about it, my buddy bought an 04 WRX and killed the tranny by launching the car too hard as well and that was his first time ever launching the wrx. The car only had 2k miles on it, he fixed it up and sold it. Now he is an owner of a blue 2005 Evo 8. WRX trannys are complete junk. Its ironic how the same exact thing that happened to your friend happened to mine as well.
 
I wouldnt call it ironic as much as I would call it disheartening. Infact, I would venture to say that tranny problem is way more common then our own beloved crankwalk.

they wont honor it. good luck. make sure if he does go for warranty work, to try to get his dad/grandfather to drop off the car. they see a young guy in a WRX and they instantly assume, and usually theyre right, but regardless to the fact, that a young kid was racing it and thus broke it. a older person they probably wouldnt think to even ask the reason and just fix it.

just have him get a cryo-treated RA gearset.
 
The WRX tranny might as well be made out glass. The STi tranny is a little more stout however.
 
yea i dont mean to :beatentodeath: but my friend also had a 05 wrx and blew the tranny in 5,000 miles. what the dealership thought was astonishing was how a AWD car with 5k miles on it had over 20k of tread wear on the tires, now how could that be? ROFL ROFL. anyways WHODIE126 i was in the same boat as you i sold my GSX and got something more reliable (a srt-4) and i have never looked back, some times you just got to move on its for the better
 
I am out of the DSM scene. Probably not for good, but for a while (a long while). Just purchased a 2004 Galant GTS (black w/ black leather). I was trying to get away from Mitsu cars, but I figure my experience will carry over well to this car. That and the fact that I get a lot of Mitsu parts cheap.

I've had DSMs for 10+ years and I really loved every minute of it. Started with the Talon Digest. Sure there were some times that I wanted to quite all this, but I stayed with it. Well, until I sold my Laser a couple weeks ago. Now I just have to get rid of my Eclipse and I am golden.

Anyway, it's been fun while it lasted.
 
Thanks guys yeah they have a history of Second gear crappin out and the tranny blowing. You can feel it if you don't shift right into second it feels like when I drove my old lifted jeep you can hear/feel the tranny its scary. I still have the warranty and a good dealer so hopefully it will blow before the warranty is out. I'm just hoping to have less headaches then I did with my DSM.
 
This seems as though it is becoming popular anymore. Guys are cutting up their great condition dsm's (Unless the last thread I noticed, Was a "fluke". Just thought I'd post some pictures of my 2gB.. It's rather sad when I look at the pictures, And the $14k in reciepts, Since this past winter. Either way, Here are a few pictures of the car. The rings on two of the pistons, Are cracked all the way around, Beyond belief. I was going to fix them, Being I just got the car to where I wanted it, With the HX40, But things went down south after I bought a brand new head/cams/cometic hg/arp's etc, In hopes of fixing the low compression.. Over $1k in parts for nothing.. (Before I knew it was the rings).

The car had tons of setups, 16g, 50 trim, pte 57, Hx40 etc.. Hence why I have so much money in cash reciepts:barf: As the saying goes, Do it once, Do it right, Unfortunatly I did not follow this rule with the 2g..

Fortunatly, They also say that saying "when one dsm goes down, Another goes up" This is the truth, As my buddies 95 tsi AWD got almost every part off of my car, Including the body parts. I did everything for him by myself, In a day, But it was definatly worth it. We ran our buddies 600 and were side by side at only 21lbs of boost. The car is brutal the way it sits, And it burns up all 4 tires all the way through first gear. We'll be taking it to the track on race gas and high boost eventually after we take it on the dyno and get it fine tuned.

I then bought this.. I bought the car bone stock about a month and a half ago, And the only thing I did to it was paint the rims. I took it to the track and did ''ok'' for bone stock, I just raised the boost up a bit to try and get mid 13's, Which is what i'm aiming for bone stock, Before I buy my '' Stage AGP'' setup for the car. :)
Yes, I call it a neon, It's funny how everyone gets upset about that fact, I suprised everyone when I did this switch, Being I've owned 8-9 dsm's over the past few years. I'm currently looking for a couple ''cheap'' 1g turbo cars, But everything in the classifieds are very expensive!

PS: I part everything out in my gf's yard, Her mother must love me, Huh?:tease: :| :beatentodeath:

When I heard you no longer had a DSM. I couldn't believe it, I still don't. Three of my close friends own STR4s and yes they are a bit cocky but I never listen to their stories about how they beat vipers and what not LOL

Hopefully you buy another DSM again, i know you still be active in the forums which is good because you are a good asset to the dsm community.
 
Hey, Haven't talked to you in awhile! I also heard about ''srt4 owners being cocky'', But I would never be cocky. I come from a dsm background, I've already got in a few arguments, And a race for a grand against an srt4 owner that was cocky and wanted to ''run anything''. We went back down out of town the next nite with our half of the money, And a 5gal drum of c16 in the AWD and things changed VERY FAST. It was no longer a cocky/rude attitude. I hate when srt4 owners come up to me just because I just got the car, And it's stock.. They think I never owned a modded car before! I will be a dsmer' for ever I think, And will be getting another one eventually for sure, As soon as I find one stock! I always stick up for dsm's, No matter what.. My buddies AWD is always a phone call away when we run into a cocky ''car enthusiast'', It's sickning for sure!

The way I see it is, It's more the person then the car, I would never be cocky, And would talk to someone driving a kidknapper van on 2 spare tires... You could not have the car tomorrow, Then what are you? Ya know?!
I will never stop posting on this site, I've been an every day active member for the past almost 5 years straight.

I'm just glad I got to make my buddy happy. Now, He has that complete 2gB conversion'd, Hx 40 with every bolt on equipped, 2g... For $5,000.. INCLUDING the price of the car. I sold him everything dirt cheap, I like making people happy, Especially when I get to work on their car for them =D

We went down and when we got there and showed him the setup, He seen the size of the turbo, And the 4" inlet and changed his perspective on things for some reason:confused: After that, He wanted to be buddy buddy, And then talking how another guy could beat the car in his mustang, so we said call him up and bring him down, Since we drove 2hrs getting there, But that subject got changd quick too, And there never was a race. About a week later we found out the srt4 only ran a 14.3 I believe, He was telling us it was a 12.0xx car when we first met him, And how he would run anything. We briefly talked about the dsm, And he stated how he would walk all over it, And to bring it down. It's funny when it's go time, How everything changes so quick.:( We don't think the car is ''fast'', But we know it's ''quick'', Being he's keeping up to his best buds 600. I'm not sure how fast the bike is in the 1/4, But not many people around here can keep up with bikes, Especially not one other dsm that's for sure.
 
That's sad you had to part it out but at least it's for your buddy and you get to see the setup that you had on his car kicking some ass.

P.S. Do you wanna sell the Passenger side sideskirt door panel (sideskirt part that goes on the door)?
