Is it ok to drive the car with out the upper timing belt cover on? I see allot of people do it it. I lost mine and wont have a new one for awhile. I'm worried a stone or somthing might get caught.

That's exactly what you should worry about. If your luck holds out, it won't otherwise hurt anything. But it takes a rock about the size of a BB.

Thats how I feel also but I have had another dsmer tell me that wont happen since the hood sits so close to the timing gears and belt.

I personally wouldnt drive my car without it. Ferrea 1mm os stainless valves are quite expensive. I dont want to have to buy another set.

It will run just fine; the accy belts dont have any protection and how often does debris tear them??
On the other hand, a broken accy belt generally dosnt take anything of consequence out with it, and the timing belt breaking will at the minimum bend a couple of valves.
Mine has a cover, and it will stay on....I guess it comes to how lucky you are feeling...
