no upper timing belt cover?

I don't, and you shouldn't have loose bolts near there anyways.
I'd leave it on if you have no reason to get to the cam gears though.

Im not going going to lie i run without it and i payed the price. i was taking off the spark plug cover and a blot fell into the timing belt cover, putting my car out of commision emidiatly. i had to take off the whole timing belt cover not somethin i want to repeat.

i did on my integra (well bottom half of cover) and something got in there, still havent figured out what it was, but it stripped 14 teeth off the belt and i bent all the int/exh valves in #2&3 cylinders. car shut down immediatly and i had to find a new head. i might be wrong but i could see gouging or cracking a piston could also happen. i would say leave it on and if there is not one on there, head to a bone yard and get one.

Unless you are showing it off or working on it you should really keep it on for the above reasons.

I keep mine on although ive drove with it off before. I've heard a few people say though the reason they ride with theres off is because the timing belt cover wont fit over there cam gears.

My car didn't have the cover when I bought the car, so I took one off my GSX that doesn't run. The cover is red, and my car is orange, but it gives me that sense of security so I don't even care. It's there for a reason.

Not only do you run the risk of dropping something in the engine, but you also put more wear an tear on the belt because of the elements. Water getting in, dust, and any other trash.

I put over 60k miles on my GST without the top and bottom T-Belt covers.
I never had any problems, but I'll tell you what, I was always stressed out when driving on gravel roads, or in serious rain.
I'll definitely leave my T-Belt covers on for the piece of mind, plus I'll get to hide my adj. cam gears from the smog Nazis.
