I have an auto tranny, but frequently like to manually shift it, which is ok for second to third gear, but my car shifts painfully slow from first to second. So slow I have bounced off the rev limiter several occasions and it was the cause for firing out my BIS screw once. ( not fun! the sound of the screw hitting the hood and the sudden loss of acceleration from the rev limiter and lack of performance thereafter made me think I had dropped a cylinder)

Is this a common problem with these cars? It seems very slow for me ... If I have WOT and bump the car from first to second above 6000RPM, by the time it shifts I have already hit the rev limiter and lost all momemtum. It seems like an eternity, problaby takes a full second to shift.

Surely this cant be normal, I must not be making full pressure somewhere, right?

There are a number of manual shifter options, from buttons to boxes that turn the stock shifter into a instant sequential shifter. They will do what you want. There is also the translab shift kit which is a valve body upgrade.

I personally dont think its the best idea to be up shifitng ## car, its auto keep it in drive. ## transmission sounds like its slipping if its hitting redline, my car did that to, and eventually the transmission crapped right out. Just my opinion if you want your car to shift faster, buy a shift kit from IPT. Dont upshift i dont find it any faster if not its slower, i ran mine at cayuga and it was .2 slower upshifting, also keep the over drive button off until redline in 3rd and ull stay in 3rd longer which will make the car a little faster due to it loosing power when it shifts to 4. Also your front drive clutches are prob worn, this will cause it to shift slow.
