i have a freshly rebuilt tranny with a trans lab shift kit. my 1-2 shift is a little sluggish, it just kinda slides into gear.. i was wandering if i should play with the 1-2 shift spring. the 2-3 shift is awsome, and 3-4 is really good. should i go heavier or softer on the 1-2 shift spring.:dsm: :barf:

On a DSM transmission there isn't any way to change shift feel for specific shifts with different springs. You can only effect the shift quality for all of the shifts at once.

Try adjusting the reducing pressure, if that doesn't do it for you,
try going to black pressure modifier spring if you haven't done so already.

my 3-4 shift isn't as good as i thought before. i was driving it around more today, before when i drove it i wasn't shifting from 3-4 under boost. today i was under boost when it shifted from 3-4 and it feels alot like 1-2 under boost. what about the band, that effects the 1-2 and 3-4 shifts doesn't it? or do you think i should still adjust the reducer. i don't have the black spring. i don't think my kit had it, i'm not sure. i lost the paper work on the shift kit. any help is greatly apprieciated.

It is beginning to sound like a band situation, where did you get the trans rebuilt? Perhaps you need to take it back to them.

i got the trans from some place in canada. i can't take it back. what do you think i can try to firm up the shift a little? i rebuild 700r4s and 350 turbos but i'm not that familiar with the ins and outs of these trannys.

It is unfortunate that there are shops out there that don't seem to stand behind their work.

That being said, if you have rebuilt transmissions before, why not attempt to tackle your DSM unit?

i originally got the tranny to rebuild and put it my car. i got the complete unit for $200 off of ebay. when i got it i tore the valve body apart and took the end clutches out. and there was still the petrolium jelly on the seals. it hadn't been run enough to desolve it. so that led me to believe that it is a fesh rebuild. and everything is still clean in side. there was no residue in the pan either. with messing with this tranny i've noticed that the things i do to a 700 to firm the shifts up aren't working on this one. these trannys seem the complete opposite. i need to know alittle more of what controls what on these. the only book i found on these is one from ATSG. do you know of any others?
