Where did my 1-2 shift go?

Quick backstory to this, I've been running this A/T AWD tranny for about two years with a Translab kit in it the majority of that time. I ran valvoline synthetic with lubegard and kept an eye on fluid levels. I recently did a motor swap where I lost a lot of trans fluid, so I replaced it with more valvoline synthetic but forgot to add lubegard. This new engine/turbo is working well for me so I brake boost it cautiously maybe 4 times. Well a couple weeks go by and I begin feeling slip.

Instead of adding more lubegard, my buddy tells me to switch to Hygard hydraulic oil; I needed to adjust the pressure regulator valve spring on the lower valve body anyways so I planned on picking up this stuff. So I procrastinate this for about a week due to college dead week and baby the car around, then one day it begins to REALLY slip in second. :banghead: I kick it into high gear and get the regulator spring adjusted to nearly max, switch to Travellers Hydraulic Oil, new filter (~5k on the last one), and add a little Trans-x for measure.

This made for some really great, tight shifts, in everything except the 1-2 upshift. This upshift is barely distinguishable, just kind of falling into the gear slowly and then slipping very easily. Sometimes I can't even tell when it shifted due a mixture of feathering the gas and slippage, 2nd gear really wants to slip. But 3-2 shift is still tight.

So the end clutch has been replaced with an IPT kit, and there's no slippage in 4th gear. I feel like this is a line pressure issue since it seems to be so isolated and all other shifts are perfect. The fluid didn't smell burnt, was still very clear, and the pan/magnets had some material but nothing beyond trace amounts of black powder.

I know this is a bit of a write-up but I wanted to get all the specifics in the first post. Any insight on this would be much appreciated!

Is the CEL light on? Is the car throwing any codes? It could be a servo or servo harness issue. Recheck the harnesses and look for nicked wires following the engine swap.

Having a mixture of different fluids, plus the additive, is probably not going to help the life of the tranny. I'm not familiar with that hydraulic oil, but I would be concerned about how it handles the heat.

You didn't mention the total miles on the trans. Almost all of the autos fail between 130k and 140k because of a poorly made snap ring that breaks. There are several good threads on hear that discuss the symptoms and the solutions for this breakage.

Don't wait too long to find out what it is. If the snap ring has broken, pieces of it will travel through the trans and eventually ruin your pump.

I'll have a minute to pull codes tomorrow, the trans is at probably 150k at least. I know when I bought it the engine had been in and out so I'm not sure if the trans is original.

I've never heard of a snap ring failure before I'll have to give it a look, hopefully this can lead back to a solenoid issue though. Thanks for the input.

I pulled a "2nd gear incorrect ratio" code. The car has been grounded as I've been busy with school, but it sounds like my 2nd gear clutch pack might be worn out.
