I took my car in the shop to get it check out on a few things, they said my transfer case was near dead. They also said I can disconnect it and be fine untill I get a new one. I was wondering if that is really such a good idea and how to do it. Im also wondering what problems I might run into during the process. I've got to make a 1100 mile trip tommorow night and the tranfer case is clunking like a blown ujoint. I've checked all the ujoints and ball joints and cv joints they all are in pretty good condition so I dont have reason to doubt them.
 
I think if you disconnect it without having a viscus cuppler elimitor you will end up goofing up the transmission. I know for sure you wont move, because the power is going to go to the eaiser wheels to move, and because there are no wheels there to move, it will be the eaisest way for the power to move. Dont do it.

B/S, I have had my transfer case out since like november. It will do just fine as a fwd, it's done every day. WTF
