I am in the process of rebuilding my engine. I took my block to a machine shop and they tossed my old bearings so I not sure if all of the main bearings look the same or if 2 halfs have lips on the edges.

The reason I am asking is because I bought some clevite bearings and they came with 8 bearing halfs that are identical and 2 bearing halfs that have lips on the edges.

So what I am asking is do I just use the identical bearings or are the lipped bearings supposed to go on one end of the engine :talon:

ok that was a stupid question, I need all ten half bearings, I guess all I need to know is where the odd shaped bearings are supposed to go

I have never built a 4g63 before but I have built plenty of other motors. Most likely the bearings with the ridge on them are the thrust bearings which in most cases go to main that is in the back of the motor. not 100% sure though.

Figured it out...goes in the middle...and I have the shop manual and it says nothing about what bearings go where, it assumes that that information is already known
