I read on VFAQ that you should tape off the 2 bottom ports on the TB when cleaning it so that no carb cleaner gets down in there. I have the TB off the car and the ISC is out, the FIAV is still in. Do I still need to worry about getting cleaner in those passages? It seems like cleaning out the ISC passages would be a good idea. So what exactly are you trying not to damage by taping these ports off?

I do this when I am running the car and spraying, just because nothing has a chance to sit there and fester in the engine or other parts. It wont kill the mechanisms down there, but yeah, it is just like seafoam, it will clean it and make it run like crap for a while, but once it knocks, there ya go, it's ALIVE!!! Your car will run better and better, and you will feel it instantly. Just use seafoam or MCC, they both do the same thing....

You missed the point of my question. WHY does VFAQ say to make sure that nothing gets down in those ports? Is it to protect the FIAV or the ISC? Because I have the ISC off already, and I would like to clean the ISC ports out, but I'm worried its going to break something in the FIAV system...

I'm a complete dumbass, my apologies. I read that when I first woke up and totally missed that part.:coy:

I can't explain any VFAQ reasoning, but I can tell you I didn't block anything off when I cleaned my TB (thorough hand cleaning) or when I seafoamed the engine (via the TB) and everything still works.
