On my 98' GSX automatic, i wanted to add some parts to it, but really I don't know is worth spending the money on and what is affective. I was thinking of buying Greddy Inter. Piping with a Greddy Type-S BOV, then to get Air Filter & Intake. If you have any experience positive or negative with a certain brand let me know. I would like to buy cheap stuff but I want it to last and give me good performance. Oh, and if anyone has an automatic and has some suggestions for making it faster of the line, like in a drag, I was thinking putting it in 2nd and reving it to 2g's with both brakes up, and then dropping them. Any advice on what I Should do would be appreciated.

Thanks, Art :dsm:

come on, some one has to have some experince with starting from stock parts.

Modding an A/T is pretty much the same as modding a 5-speed, except for the tranny, of course. Just follow the Tech Guide here and read through the A/T forum for some pointers. The main tranny mods you'll want are an aftermarket transmission cooler, and maybe an end clutch upgrade if your O/D is starting to slip at all. www.atdsm.com is an A/T specific forum that has some good info, as well as the DSM forum at IPT (importperformancetrans.com).

neutral drops, or breakstands arent too good for the transmission dude. Probably not that good with AWD too. ....or maybee i have no clue on what im talking about since its an auto...i cant read letters so i cant drive em'.

Neutral drops are a definite no-no. That's where you put it in N, rev up, then throw it in D. Just do that a couple of times and you'll be looking at a rebuild. Power-braking, or brake-boosting as it's also called, is OK as long as you don't do it a LOT, or for more than 4-5 seconds at a time-- it heats up the ATF a lot. Power-braking is like he said-- hold down the brakes, step on the gas, build up some boost, then let off the brakes and leave the line under boost. It's harder with larger turbos since they are more difficult to spool. The stocker is easy.

"Affective" includes things like pretty wheels, huge whale tails, decals and windshield banners.
I suspect you want things that are "effective", and there's a very fine Tuning Guide on here which will hold your hand for you.

And NEVER bump a thread on DSMtuners. :nono: It brings on lockage.
