Questions on GSX

eH.. hi im new here =].

i just bought my first car.
EVer since 6th grade ive been into the import scene.
ALWAYS loved ricers.

So i just bought a 99 gsx (charcoal gray). OFcoarse its stick.
I always wanted a gsx.. because i had the luxury of the AWD/t25 turbo.

i had some questions.. what should i do first?
what are the BEST performance upgrades?

SHould i go straight for Greddy exhaust/intercooler pipes?
and if i rly want speed.. should i replace the turbo anytime soon?

Congrats on the GSX, I just acquired mine a little before this summer started. I have some goals to get mine into around the mid 8s (1/8 mile of course), so ill tell you what im planning to do maybe it will help you decide some. Im trying to avoid doing too much modification due to this car being my daily driver

First of all get an exhaust system. A good turboback will get the exhaust out of the engine bay. I stress this a lot because my cat is clogged and its really hurting my power, but its still important. Next get a boost gauge, dont even think about messing with the boost until you get a gauge. Then get a manual boost controller, you can either Home Depot it or get one for around 60 bucks, your choice. Thats where im at as we speak. Next I plan on getting a 14b, I dont really need much more than that. After that comes the SAFC and hopefully with some race gas I should be set for my goals. These are pretty modest goals, but then again the car has to stay alive for me to drive it everyday. All in all I hope to achieve a fast daily driver. Hopefully this short list will help ya out some, good luck with the DSM and welcome to the community

"Where's the Search button?" would be a better question. You have a lot of reading to do young grasshopper and I can see this thread going on for a while; the search will answer almost any question you'll need answered. To answer your first question though, the 14B is the turbo used on the 1G DSM's which has proved to be much more efficient than the T-25 (T Too Slow) that comes stock on the 2G's.

There's nothing wrong with replacing your piping and it's an easy, albeit not that cheap (usually $100 for each intake pipe section) way to gain lost horsepower. Exhaust change can also help, but make sure to change the whole exhaust and not just the catback.

Blak, why would you need a SAFC if you're not even putting in new injectors or a new larger fuel pump (such as a walboro 255lph)?
