Got a few questions about tranny fluid....

how often should it be changed? How easy is it to change? Can i just top it off if it is low? how do i check the level? what kind of tranny fluid do you guys reccomend? thanks.

I'm using Royal Purple. I heard B&M sychroshift is pretty good too, but kinda pricey. You have to pull out two nuts from underneath your car. One is the drain plug at the bottom of the tranny and the other is the fill plug on the side of your tranny (you need a 24mm socket for one and a smaller one for the other, dont remember the size). You'll also need one of those funnel things with a long flexible bottom thing. Make sure you can open up your fill plug before opening up the drain plug to drain all your trans fluid. After your fluid is drained out, open up your hood and side the funnel tube down to the fill plug and start pouring in your new tranny fluid (don't forget to put your drain plug back in). Fill it up all the way to the top to the point where a little fluid comes out the side.

I change my tranny fluid every couple years, whenever I flush my brakes.

does anyone happen to have a picture of where the bolts are on the tranny? its less than 20 degrees outside right now and i dont wanna be fumbling around trying to find them. thanks!

also, how many bottles of b&g synchroshift will i need? im just gonna order them from prostreetonline cause they seem to have good prices.

my bad... i missed it cause i was hurridly reading the thread because i was supposed to be doing work... cause im at work... but now, my boss went home sick and so ill read the thread more carefully. thanks!

oh ok. got it now. how many bottes is 3 quarts? im guessing that one bottle is a quart, so i would have to order 3 bottles? thanks again everyone. this is a very informative thread.

Yes, that is correct. I think it's good to change your tranny fluid every 2 or 3 oil changes. But I change mine 1-2 times per summer.
