I bought a 1g awd auto not too long ago. I put on a e316g and now I need to upgrade the exhaust. The turbo doesnt hit full boost until about 4500 RPM. I figure the exhaust is one of the reasons for such slow spool. I was looking on ebay for downpipes/ exhausts and I found this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MEGA...ewItemQQcategoryZ33630QQitemZ8030202054QQrdZ1 Does anyone know if Megan fixed the fitment issues on the flange? Does this look like a good deal to you? Thanks... if anyone knows where to get a used/ good priced new 3" turbo back exhaust let me know.

dejon has an awesome exhaust they make themselves now.

just check their site for it. you can pick up the whole dp and catback for less than 500 bucks. it sounds mean and it's a nice hp gain.

one question though, did you do any other upgrades before you threw on the turbo? cuz exhaust and injectors are typically pretty critical to run a new turbo. espically going from the small 13g to a 16.

Oh yeah, I got 550's, SAFC II, datalogger, evo mani, fuel pump, looking for a afpr at the moment, JRC FMIC with hard pipes, plugs, wires, all that good stuff. I think the exhaust is holding me back a lot though. Like I said I dont hit full boost til' around 4500. Maybe being auto has something to do with it.

You have other issues if full boost doesnt hit until 4500. When I ran a 16g I would get full boost (22+ psi) before 3000.

I was ready to say the same thing.

Your exhaust is not what's causing your EVO3 to hit full boost at 4500. I would recommend performing a boost leak. Something is wrong, if you are hitting full boost at 4500. An EVO3 should hit full boost by 3100.

i dunno, it sound more like exhaust is kepping it back quite a bit.

i would do a boost leak test though just to make sure. but exhaust will help that thing spool a lot faster.

why you didn't do exhaust sooner is still beyond me. thats one of the first things i did.

and no, being auto isn't that big of a deal. make sure you're not in economy or overdrive. and break boost it a little bit. NOT any longer than 3 sec.

im auto and my 14b spools what seems like instantly with my dejon exhaust. before, definately didn't hit it very fast. and i even have a little preturbo exhaust leak.

Yeah I know a boost leak test is a first check kind of thing. I will do that. Although I had no leaks before putting on the FMIC and I made sure to tighten down all the t-bolt clamps. But hey, who knows, I could have a leak somewhere in the intercooler piping. Ill double check. I also have to tune. I havent yet set up the SAFC or logged due to a bad cable I bought off of ebay. Ill post up the results when I do the boost leak test.:thumb:

BTW thanks for that info on the Dejon exhaust. I think I am going to go ahead and get it. 450 for a full turboback is great.

also, I dont have an exhaust becuse I just bought the car. I dont yet drive it and Im working on getting it together. I had all the other parts lying around and thats why they went on pre-exhaust. Believe me if I had it my way that would have been my 2nd upgrade.

hah, good to hear. i just got worried when you started saying. . . 16g, installed front mount, injectors, safc.

that thing should be a monster when you get her running for real. good luck with the modding, and no about the dejon exhaust. i bought it when it first came out and i freekin love it. like i said though, it's not big on pretty, but it's BIG on power.

i've got pics of it up on my car if you want. it looks like it hangs low, but it's just because the bullet muffler it's got on it is more or less just a 3" pipe with just enough sound dampening around it to be called a muffler.

I was suggesting a boost leak, because something is obviously wrong here, and the problem is not in your exhaust. You should be hitting full boost way lower than 4500. The exhaust will help your spool up, but the problem is you're still not hitting full boost where you should on an EVO3; which is 3100. Let us know the results of the test.

Stay boostin

I went ahead and ordered the Dejon exhaust w/ evo dp. It comes out to less then 500 bucks and its a full exhaust. I think I might go ahead and change the muffler though. I dont care for how it sits so far from the bumper. Although I have a 1ga and I dont have a gap on the bumper for the muffler, so it might fit better. I guess only time will tell on that one. Either way I'm still gonna do that boost leak test and post up results. I will also do the same when I get the exhaust. I'll let you guys know if it was worth it or not ( Which I'm sure it will be). So keep your eyes peeled. Thanks for all the replys thus far.

DSM's for life...

so that makes three of us with this exhaust. sad, i ordered mine a week ago and you might get yours first. not having my paypal account linked to a credit card was a bad idea. having instant fund transfers is a lot better than this, wait 7 days to get verified stuff. but thats not dejons fault. dave said he would have the stuff ready and in the mail tomorrow (the 7th day) for me. well see who gets it first of us 1ga'ers...

o, we both live in cali too, how do YOU plan on passing smog? LOL...

Yeah well technically mine wont be ordered until tomorrow either. So you still have a chance of beating me;) . Do you plan on running the muffler they give you?

As far as smog goes..........uhmmmmmm can I answer that on here.

ill keep that muffler as im a cheap bastard.... it doesnt look too bad i guess, ill have to wait and see. maybe ours will come together, LOL. im going to infineon on the 20th of next month, you should come. ill pm you the day before if im going for sure, but im set on going. dont know how the whole parents signature thing works if your parents arent coming. have you been there yet?

you guys will be pleased with this exhaust i think.

like i said before, it's not the prettiest thing, but man does it put down some nice sound and power.

and like some others, i might change the muffler too. i just need to get some cash together for a nice magnaflow dual outlet with tips. stock look with mean sound. heehee

No I havent been to Infenion yet. I just looked it up on mapquest and its about 460 miles away from me. Thats about a 7 hr drive or so. I would practically have to take vacation to get out there. I work all through the week so to do that on a Wednesday I would have to have the next day off and that day off. I will see what I can do though. Where exactly is Orinda? Is that in So Cal or what?

MY BAD, you should try california speedway then

orinda is the south park of california. no one knows where it is because there is nothing here. i live in the bay area

Gotcha... Yeah I go to California Speedway every so often. I'll take my car out there as soon as I get it tuned and see what she can do. Hopefully I can at least break into the 13's with her. Again, I dont know how much the auto is gonna hold me back on that. I'd be happy with 13's though. Considering what I have done. I'm gonna get cams and some other goodies pretty soon also. I just gotta worry about the two other cars I have. Priorities and Responsibilities are no fun :notgood: I talked to someone at Dejon and they said they should be shipping it out tomorrow or at the latest Friday. Hopefully I get it before next weekend so I can get it on. :talon:

Got the exhaust on. After about 2 hours of messing with the damn hangars on the exhaust I had it all ready to go. I took it for a spin to see if it helped with spool. Well, it did to an extent. I was hitting full boost at about 3900 rpm's. I kept studdering at WOT around 5k up. Finally the car felt like it hit a brick wall. I knew I blew an intercooler pipe off. I did exactly that. The coupler coming from the j-pipe to the L-pipe was blown off. This might have been where my boost leak was. I havent yet performed the boost leak test. I will do that this weekend. I am pretty sure that I have a leak somewhere though. The car is still a dog off of the line. I swear i could get beat by a geo til' about 30mph. NOt sure whats causing that. Im a little confused as to what was making my car studder at high rpm's though. I will put on the SAFCII and tune as soon as my datalogger cable comes in. My old one was junk and keeps giving me that ### serial comm error. The cable should be here tomorrow and then this weekend is dedicated to working on the car. I'll keep you guys updated. If anyone has any ideas to the above mentioned feel free to shoot me some theories. Thanks:)

what took you two hours? did you lift your car? im trying to do it without lifting the car and didnt have any problems until my dad realized i was working on my car. thats always been my biggest problem. i also found a free socket attached to one of the hangers on my stock exhaust. apparently its been there for over a year. it was somewhat rusted on, but came off easily enough. i had actually seen it before and i just didnt know what it was. it was one of those bendy sockets with electrical tape wrapped around it. dont know why. but i always thought it was part of the car.

how many stock hangers are there? ive already taken off three and im only done with the muffler. i know there are only 4 on the dejon exhaust.

what size are the nuts on the downpipe, the ones that are on the studs in the o2 housing. (i read 17mm on here but my 18mm didnt fit over it, so im kinda confused....)

The bolts on the downpipe are 17mm. Not sure why your 18 wont fit. There are 6 hangars on the stock exhaust. Dejon only puts 4 but that is more then sufficient. I ended up cutting the metal hangars off of the stock exhaust to get it down. I dont have a lift so I used jackstands in the front and a jack in the back of the car. Kinda squished for room considering im not the smallest guy. Getting the exhaust on wasnt hard it was getting the fittings over the hangars on the Dejon exhaust to fit over the metal to hold the hangar to the exhaust. You know those little round things with the allen screw. I'm going to use a tap and die set and thread those metal hangars and put bolts on them. You have to file the metal hangar down to put those fitting on. That was the most time consuming part. If not for that I could have had it done in under an hour tops. WEll worth the time though.

dont those allen things unscrew? im sure if you backed them out it would fit, mine do with the exception of the allen bolt thingy. then just tighten them once its on.

good to know i only have three more hangers and two more bolts to go before i can drop the stock pos exhaust off.

weeee, i can fit under my car without a jack or jackstands, OWWW!!!!! hit my head. LOL

LOL, yeah I hit my head one too many times tonight. I guess my metal hangars were thicker then yours or my allen screws were smaller. I backed the allen screw all the way out and it still didnt fit. I had to use a hammer to get them on all of the way. LUcky me. Get ready to wake your neighbors and the dead up with that exhaust.

This is what I was talking about. I was saying something else is wrong, if you are spooling at 4500 on a 16G. Let us know what happens after the test.
