Here's an easy one guys, I installed all my fuel stuff a day or two ago, but I can smell gas in the engine bay after driving and such. I used the yellow type teflon tape that was labelled for "gas lines". Is this the wrong stuff? I know everything is tight in there, but it would seem that i have a leak. Am I supposed to use the pink "waterline" stuff? I know i'm not supposed to use the standard white/in a blue spool stuff on gas lines....

Any help would be appreciated,

-Steve

i would never use teflon tape. if i need a seal on a thread i get the thread sealer. i like the one that is called the green stuff.

That's for natural gas, not gasoline. Most fuel fittings are compression, and the threads don't do the sealing. For those places where it does, use Permatex #2, Non-Hardening.

Pardon my asking, where would one buy this Permatex #2? I think my white taped AFPR isn't gonna last too long...

Permatex is available almost anywhere. Autozone, advance auto, napa, walmart, etc, etc. The #2 will be in a white tube and say #2 permatex with non-hardening printed under it.

Defiant, a lot of aftermarket fuel parts not only use compression fittings, but tapered pipe threads also. I would asume he was speaking of aftermarket parts since he said he just installed all of it. If it was stock, he wouldnt of installed it, it would have already been there.
