Ok, so first off, this is my first day on the forum, I joined because i just got a 1999 Eclipse N/T with a few aftermarket mods:
Drilled rotors
Full suspension
KYB shocks lowering springs
Braided steel brake lines
APEXI full cat back
Front and rear strut bars
Trunk mount battery
Racing radiator mount fans
AEM Cams
AEM adjustable cam gears
AEM intake
headers
and UNFORTUNATELY a 3" APEXI turbo muffler (the car is N/T...sounds like a fartcan)
"check engine light is on, im suspecting its bc of the exhaust" :banghead:
Im wanting to keep the engine N/T but get as much power out of it as i can, and possibly upgrade to turbo later. if i were to keep it N/T and throw this hardware in:
Wiseco Pistons + Rings (8.8.1 .020)
Eagle Rods
Clevite 77 Main bearings
Melling High Volume Oil Pump
Clevite Rod Bearings
ARP Head studs
ARP Main studs
Gasket kit
what kind of PTW would be good for the rings, could the stock tranny handle it, and could i leave the Head stock with the block being like this?
Thanks in advance to everyone.

If you are going to stay N/A for any period of time after the build, I'd stay away from those low compression pistons.

I'm fairly new to the tuning/aftermarket world, ive been doing some research, if i remember correctly low compression is for turboing, higher compression is for N/T? am i correct?
BTW, thanks for the quick reply.

no need for a "High Volum" oil pump... just going to cost you HP

the pistons will have the PTW built into them, and wiseco will let you know what PTW to use.
Wiseco will also give you a paper on how to figure your ring end gap, but you have to make the final decion on going turbo or not. the ring gap between turbo and non tuebo is slightly diffrent.

yes you can run a bone stock head on a built bottom end.

As stated above in response to RadDsm's comment, if im not going turbo i need high compression pistons correct? and low compression for turbo?

You could always get the stock compression forged pistons, then boost it later. That wouldn't be a bad idea, depending on what kind of fuel you will be using.

But yes, in general you want lower compression pistons for boost and higher for N/A (to a point of course).

So maybe if im not boosting more like 10.5:1? whats the difference between the .020 and .040 and if im not going to boost which would be better?

10.5:1 is just about perfect if you ask me, and as far as Boreing over goes, .20 is all you need. I wouldn't bore at all unless you have to. Save the boring for when it is needed.

I don't know to be honest, I have no N/A experience with what you can get away with for high compression.
The only 420a I owned was just a DD for a while.
