question about throttle bodies

was considering an aftermarket throttle body and have been looking for a comparison between all the stock vs the aftermarket ones out there.

it is going on a holset hx40 build for around 28psi and im using a jmf smim

i was leaning toward the s90 tb but after looking at talondaves build i see he is using a nt tb and it got me wondering about the stock tb and what would be the best to go with.

1g N/T or Evo 3 if you don't want to run 2 gaskets. 1g turbo if you want to use an elbow.

The 1g throttle body will be able to support a lot of flow, so the only real reason (if not going for really big power) to update is bling.

I don't have any experience with aftermarket t bodies but i have seen a lot of threads about them. The general consensus is, the larger aftermarket ones improve top end power while hurting mid and low. To have the "widest" powerband/ HP and torque curve, a stock tbody with smim seems to work the best.

As stated, 1G NA TB would meet your expectations IMO. Have you considered a SMIM?

Yup, stick with a 1G throttle body variant. Cheap, simple, an effective.

i was going to go with the s90 simply because i have a 90 and i wanted to replace the 90 specific tb.

since i have deleted the fiav and the coolant lines i wanted to keep the isc for idle control but didnt think about the stock tb untill i started looking at them. i had no idea which of them was the best for flow. ill be looking for a good 1g na tb this weekend at the pick and pull thats in good shape.

Another option is to get the throttle body bored out. Throttlebody.com does bore out 1G throttle bodies.
