Question about this intake.

I just bought the car, and it already had an aftermarket Intake on it.

Thing is, I have googled and don't see that this intake should fit on this car. I was wondering if anyone had any information on it, such as, was it made for the car and something on the engine had to change for it to fit, etc etc, and where I can get a new filter for it??

Also, being a bit new to the internals of a car, what exactly does this intake offer over the factory intake?

Looks good to me . Pretty much an intake is an intake. As long as it's made right, it's just a metal pipe.

the intake allows colder air to enter the engine thus making it perform better. Where is the filter on that one. Does it drop down into the bumper of is it on top in the engine bay?

That injen is made for your car, it's about the nicest intake you'll find for a non-turbo 4g63.

The filter sits on top in the engine bay.

It's just to the left of the end of the intake pipe.

So thats a pretty good intake then, eh?

Thanks for the replies... Good to know its not a POS intake then.

From reading on the site, I see that about the only other power mods I can do to the car are:

1: Cat-back Exhaust
2: High Flow Cat
3: Exhaust Header

Any particular order these should be done in? I am pretty sure I wouldn't be able to afford all of them at once, not counting the downtime to install.

Also, how do these affect emissions? Have to keep the state of Delaware happy.. :-(

1. Header - 4-2-1 header is better than 4-1 provides more power in the low and midrange where the n/t cars need it the most. Pacesetter makes a 4-2-1 (can find on ebay)

2. Cat-back exhaust. - DO NOT JUST GET A CHEAP MUFFLER, the cat-back system will provide better exhaust for minimal performance gains and a nice sound depending on which one you get.

3. High flow cat = failed emissions test

So scratch the High flow cat.... No problem...

How much power would be gained from that anyway? Just a few horses, or is it something i'd wish I had.???

So far as the 4-2-1 header goes, I only see a 1-3-6 for the Eagle Talon... Didn't see any on ebay.. The 1-3-6 I saw is on http://www.pacesetterexhaust.com/headers_detail.htm

Not sure about the header, but I was able to pass delaware emissions with my rusted out cat and running rich (with my 2.3L benz) by putting in the alcohol "guaranteed to pass" stuff from Pepboys, with like 1/8 of a tank left (1.5-2 gallons). I've seen some nice gains from a high-flo cat, hell just swap it out for the stocker every 2 years. How long ago was it tested? For the order, Id go down the list. First get a header, then high-flo cat, then catback system. Good luck with the car!

I bought some Pacesetter Headers for my 1996 Talon and you have to do some customizing to make them fit. Another thing is that the paint on the header will eventually burn off and make it look like crap( a rust look). Pacesetter is the cheapest way to go but try to find some that are stainless steal.
