If a car is bought for parts or repair can it still be registered? Id have a bill of sale but the bill of sale be for parts and repair listing whats wrong with the car. I know the law can vary from state to state. I live in Rhode Island.

I know in pa you need a title. You can try and send for a lost title, contact the person you got the car off of and tell him what your doing. It will show up to his house or the last person who had it titled.

I called the R.I. DMV and you can not register a car that has a bill of sale for parts or repair. Sadly you can never drive a car sold for parts legally at least in R.I.

Can you get the title like posted earlier? If the bos said repair on it, I don't see why one wouldn't be able to get the car repaired back to running/driving condition. I would contact the seller and see if they are willing to go down to the tag/title agency with you and you pay for the lost title fee. It's worth a try if you are wanting to drive/sell the car after it is repaired.
