Okay so heres the deal i did a stock rebuilt tranny and in the process bought a new clutch to go along with it... i bought a competition clutch stage 4 which was a 6 puck and i chose the unsrpung hub option... when i got the clutch they sent me their stage 5 clutch which is a 4 puck unsprung hub and me thinking oh sweet i just got a better clutch for the price of 1 stage lower than that so w/e i went with it and never said a word... a week after the tranny was rebuilt and new clutch i got it all broken in and the first time i go to launch the car i slammed it in 2nd and completely blew out every gear 2nd through reverse only 1st was left... let me add the tranny wasnt warrantied b/c it was supposably a "race car" LOL so after that i then built my AWD talon that i have now and put this same exact clutch in it... well 2 days ago just regular driving somehow i snap my clutch fork which then bent the slave all up... no questions asked this clutch is coming out of the car it was the biggest mistake ever and pry the dumbest let me tell ya... the clutch is ovbiously way to harsh on just the stock tranny's and thats why i keep breaking shit... so now im stuck not knowing what clutch i should go with and after spendin 500 on this one i dont really want to spend to much... so this is my question... can i use my pressure plate from competition clutches and maybe just throw an ACT streek disk in there to go along with it? do you think i would just be asking for more problems with breaking shit considering i still have the stage 5 pressure plate? or do you think it would lighten things up so that its not so harsh??? or should i just break down and buy a whole new clutch kit??? any imput from you guys is appreciated and i thank you all... and by the way im not looking for replys telling me im a dumbass for usin this clutch because after 2 trannys and 4 grand later... and now this clutch fork... im pretty sure i know that...;) thanks guys...

Crap happens. To answer your questions.....No you can't just throw an street disk in it. Different pressure plates of different "stages" and different companies are designed to use different disks. (Thats alot of differents) You will have to check with the same company your pressure plate is from and see what disks they offer to work with your pressure plate. You can still use the pressure plate but I would go with a sprung disk. The biggest change to make would probably be your driving style. You can't simply dump a clutch on an AWD car and exspect stuff to always hold up. Get yourself a new disk and a little driver training and crap might not happen for another day.

well thanks for the imput and yes i do know how to drive and no i do not dump my clutch on any of my cars i always slip/feather it out of the hole... and when i blew the tranny it was a FWD tsi not AWD at that time... and when i broke this clutch fork i wasnt banging gears or anything like that i was just driving... gotta figure my guess was when the guy before me built this awd tranny the clutch fork wasnt replaced so it has over 100 thousand or so miles on it and the clutch i had was no help to it... but thanks again for the clutch help just maybe read a little harder before you go and critisize my driving capabilities... :)

I think you should find out pressure rating of your pressureplate before people start trowing their opinions about what disk works with your pressure plate (and yes, they're only opinions. Just because a company offers their own disks, it doesn't mean that other disks won't work. I've tried many different combos, untill I found what I liked. SBR disk with ACT pressure plate.)
