I have a 1995 gst and the previous owner had Msd coils on it, but my car has been having problems lately and I would like to know if the previous owner had them installed correctly.

MSD Blaster SS Coil - 8207 <- This is the model of coils in my car

And I'll upload a picture of my coils so you can see how they are connected . If someone can provide me with a electric diagram of the ignition system it would be of great help to see if they are connected well.

Also I would like to know how to measure the ignition coils to see if they are working property , can anybody tell me how to measure them? I would guess with a multimeter, but how ?

Thanks in advance!

First of all it looks like the wires are electical taped and butt connected. You need to rewire all that mess with heat shrink and solder. And yes you can check the resistance of the coils using your multimeter set to ohms. Every coil is differnt thought so the factory specifcation won't be the same as a aftermarket/performance coil. You'd have to find out by the part number what they should be at. Just contact msd if you can't find that info on the net. Luckily you have four of them, so at the very least check them all and if one or more is reading a much differnt number then the others then most likely it's a bad coil. touch one of the multimeter wires to the tower (where the spark plug wire connects) and the other to the positive on the coil.

Well, the car starts with no problem, when I move through gears if I try to accelerate pass 3,000 or a higher rpm the car starts to loose power until it shuts down (if I keep the pedal down) if I stop pressing the pedal then it goes back to the normal rpm range without shutting down :/ I think it must be electrical problem
