I just finished the Jeep 55mm throttle body mod, and it's wicked awesome. Still have more adjustments to deal with the new power and redo my intake. I'm wondering what I can do to cool the incoming air. Is it worth looking into insulative gaskets for the intake manifold parts? Can I use these new silicone rubber baking sheets to make heat-resistant gaskets? I also have a homemade medium-ram intake that I'd like to insulate. Heat wrap? Metal cover (like a double wall) for it? Any ideas? Thanks!

Not sure there is too much more you can do about cooling off the actual incoming air being sucked in by your intake besides ducting or fabricating a ram air type set-up . But what you can do is make sure it does'nt suck in or heat sink any more high temp under hood air than it has to. You can work on reducing your under hood tempatures by using header wrap on your exhaust manifold, venting the hood, heatshielding or isolating your filter to the fender, etc. which will give you the same goal your looking for of lower intake temps. :thumb:

Thanks guys. I have my header wrapped. I just asked because I read something about insulative gasket material. Does seem much more pertinent to isolate the incoming air away from the air behind the radiator. Been wondering about that. Anyone have any experience? I had fashioned a 'scoop' out of stainless sheet, but it was destroyed by a large raccoon (@45mph). Thinking of trying a duct from the hole in the bumper, fiberglass this time. Maybe.
