question about ebay parts

I just got a 95 talon tsi awd and I have started to look into parts for it. I own a 2g Stratus, cousin of the 3g eclipse and everything for that car costs an arm and a leg if it even exists.

I'm seeing CRAZY low prices on ebay for parts. $100 3" DPs, $200 SS CB's, $20 filter and mas adapters, $60 for upper intake piping. $100 F & R brakes, $30 coilovers.

Ok.. This has got to be crap right? Is it worth anything at all? Or is it that there is so much demand for stuff for the dsm that prices can get this low?

Headers for my strat are like 600 to 1100 bux. I find em for 175 for the dsm. Help me not be a n00b!

Header...no, not even really needed...its crap (expect $600 for a good one)
Coilovers...no
Downpipes are good, but watch for ones with the neckdown in the 3" pipe...ghey
Filter adapters...$20 is kind of expensive. It should be cheaper.
IC pipes...watch for the ones that have a really sharp corner, like 2 diagonally cut pieces of pipe were welded together. Thats crap. You want nice smooth bends.

I'm running an ebay intake/maf adaptor. I got fcdtuning's package, it works pretty good and has decent fitment. Don't buy it unless you have a drill, two of the holes for me didn't line up perfect and I had to bore them out a bit to get my bolts through.

Yeah I read that the 2g stock manifolds were pretty good and could just use some porting. Since I've been doing some porting for the 3g's and 2g strats, I think I'm covered there.

The 20 bux was for an open element filter + the mas adapter. Was actually more like 16 bux. Short ram kits are like 60 bux on ebay.

The reason I asked was I looked around at RRE and Extreme and a few other places and see the big names go for a lot more. Sometimes like 5x or more. Since I'm used to modding a car that has so few options, I'm used to being screwed on prices like $260 for an AEM CAI that added maybe 3hp.. heh

I'm thinking walboro fuel pump, intake w/ upper pipe, turbo back and toss in my afc-ii off the stratus. I can get all that for like around 500 bux thru ebay and be off to a great start.

Of course all this will be after I do a 150k mile service and change the timing belt and new plugs and wires..

Read the description on those downpipes before you buy, some of them say "may require modification to fit"

I've herad good things about Megan DPs off of ebay. Also, with the cone filter adaptor for the MAF, make sure it accepts the big cone filters, or do K&N. I got one off of ebay and it only had like a 2'' circular intake...it covered probably 35% of my MAF. As soon as I noticed that, I ripped it off and logged better airflow.
