Question about CV joint going out.

While driving about 10 mph my CV joint let go.I put the car in reverse to try and get to a parking space,at that time the car started moving slow and made a whineing noise from bottom of car.could i have blown the whole drivetrain?It is a awd tsi 1993 and will not move at all now.

Sounds like it was the transfer case instead of a CV joint.

The drivers side outer CV joint let go first,i can hear that very loud.
