CV Joint popped out?

ok so we did a motor swap put the motor back in and everything is good. while putting the smaller axle in on the passenger side i think its called half shaft?? we could not get the hub assembly to connect to the upper ball joint... it was like 5-6 inches away from the upper ball joint. it almost seems like the cv joint right on the outside of the tranny is pulled apart. the boot is like stretched. when i push on the hub assembly with force it clicks how do i connect the cv joint back together... and in order to lift the hub assembly up i put the jack right under neath the straight control arm correct? HELP PLEASE!!! I DONT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG

The inner tri-joint has popped out of it`s carrier. Hold the inner part of the inner carrier (the green end that goes into the tranny) & turn the shaft slightly 1 way or the other until the joint pops back into place (the inner boot will collapse to it`s normal size) . . .

It's possible to pull the cv joint it self off the axle shaft. If this is the case you will have to remove the boot and reinstall the joint on the axle. Make sure the snap ring is on the axle. Then reinstsll the boot with new clamps and grease. Can you post some pics? Hope this helps.

yeah its not the same axle that came stock its a different one i already went to auto zone and got some lucas grease and some clamps, hope thats all i need to replace this. i can post pics

First what do i have to undo or take off to get the axle out? ### i popped the axle out of the tranny and the upper ball joint is un done, and the bolt that slides throught the shock tower that looks like a bridge... because there is no room to get the axle out

Have you seperated the lower ball joints? Did you remove the nut that holds the axle to the wheel bearing? I think it's 1 1/4 inch and torqued to 160 ft/lbs. Ive had some that were really rusted on requiring heat from a mapp torch And I have also used an impact gun

its just really frustrating because we removed the old axles when the motor was out, the driver side was seized and when they used a press to get the axle out they bent the hub so i had to get a new hub. all the ball joints on the driver side got ####ed up. and when all we had to do was put the upper ball joint on the passenger side, we jacked it up and the cv joint separated so now i have to take it out and i will have to undo the lower ball joints and thats another 250 dollars already. i thought there would be a way to get the axle out by not having to undo the lower ball joints but i guess not. i'll keep you updated on what goes on. there is a guy that is helping me do all of this and he isnt gonna be able to come work on it for another week so i decided i could do it myself but i dont want to mess shit up. so i will probably wait till he gets here to do it which would be like sunday probably

I had to have my axles pressed out also. They were stuck so bad it actually deformed the threads and I had to file some threads off the end just get the nut back on. It seems to be a common problem with these especially in rust belt areas. When I reassembled them I put never seize on them. For some reason the axle/nut assembly likes to attract water and rust.

yeah we mushroomed the whole axle all the way to the hub it was amazing. we used the biggest sludge you could buy, it was as tall as me.

Ouch I hope the wheel bearing wasn't damaged w/ all that hammering. You should give it a once over to make sure it's OK.
