Hey all, i think finally im getting down to the wire about finishing up my rebuild of my motor. Now im running into yet another probkems and this calls for yet another stupid question. Well here goes - I was installing my driver side cv joint into my A/T 2g and im noticing that it will not go in all the way and i think its because of the little c-clip looking deal on the transmission side of the cv joint. It seems that the joint is getting hung up on it and the clip is not allowing the joint to slip in fully. Now my question is, what is this little clip for? And what can i do to make the joint slip in fully? Any suggestions would be great

That clip is absolutely necessary to lock the axle into the tranny.

Put a little tranny oil on the clip, get the axle lined up, grab the wheel hub with both hands and ram it in there (be careful not to scuff the axle seal when doing this). If it still won't go in then the clip may have spread apart when you removed it. You can get a new one from the dealer or remove it, compress it slightly with pliers or in a vice and slip it back in the groove being careful not to let it expand too much. After it snaps into place use a pry bar to gently tug on the axle to make sure that it really has locked into place.
