Hey everyone. Would love some help with a problem I'm having with my '91 Talon Tsi (AWD) if you guys wouldn't mind giving me a hand
So...about 6 months ago I added a full exhaust system and upped the boost a bit. Due to the added power my clutch started slipping. I brought the boost back down a bit, to keep it from slipping further, and figured I'd replace the clutch/flywheel when I got around to it. Fast forward to last Friday, I take my car into the shop and they notice that the Flywheel has been cutting into the X-fer case a little bit. I had assumed it had to do with the clutch/flywheel/throwout bearing...but my mechanic said it was the crank moving and I need a whole new short block. Does that sound right? I just had the clutch completely go out on my a few days ago; so my question is...would I be fine just doing a clutch, or do I need to replace my motor as well? Any help, ideas, tips would be awesome!
P.S: Attached is a photo trying to show where the flywheel is cutting into the x-fer case. Mechanic said that's how he knew the motor needed replacing.
