Found a 1g NA motor in the salvage yard a few days ago. It has the na throttle body, intake manifold, and head. Of course the exhaust manifold wouldn't be used. Not sure if these are 2.0 motors or 2.4 or what, but they're DOHC. Will the heads swap out on a 98 2g? Wondering what would have to be changed, rewired, etc., and makes me wonder if the cam specs are any different as well. I have my motor out right now so this would be a great time to swap if I were gonna do it. Thanks for any input.

P.S. Wasn't sure what to search for cause I'm sure I'd get a zillion results with hours of weeding through information that wouldn't answer my question. Thanks.

If it came out of a 1G and is a DOHC then it is a 2.0L

The intake cam is different.

Still wondering about what's needed as far as wiring or anything that's needed though.

The 1G N/T with DOHCs is a 2.0L 4G63. The intake manifold doesn't have the port for the BOV like the 1g turbo manifold. The 1g N/T intake cam has a 252 duration while the turbo intake cam has a 257 duration. Otherwise they the head and IM are the same from 1g N/T to turbo. As far as using a 1g throttle body on your 2g, check out this tech article: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-intake-exhaust/69924-installing-1g-tb-2g.html

Check out this thread for a LOT more info on the subject of 1g N/T parts: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-turbo-system-intercooler/48231-installing-turbo-4g63-into-nt-4g63.html

Hope this helps!

OMG!! THANKS 9!'clipseDOHC!! I have been looking for that thread all over! im close to getting a 4g63NT full engine but was wondering what was needed for stock turbo!

Not a problem. If you are planning on putting that 1g engine in your 2g then you will also need to check out this article: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/152329-how-do-6-bolt-swap-what-you-need.html

well as of now i have a 96 n/t... yep 420A but i am planning on building a 4g63 for a project car (not the 96 n/t car). The engine im looking at is a 1993 4g63 N/T 7 bolt that had a timing belt break. Its a full pulled engine not dissembled. hes asking 200$ for it but im still researching before i go pick it up cause i want to install a 1G 14B turbo setup on it and use it in my next project.

Ok then that first article I posted is the one that you need. Make sure you read the section about the n/t pistons and then don't use them if you are going to slap a turbo on it :thumb:
