Hey guys and Girls,
I'm looking for a link or info on removing the rear quarter glass from a 1990-1994 Eagle Talon.
Mine is broken and I can get one from a 1992 parts car but don't want to risk breaking it in the process. Also I need to know how to remove the trim on my 1991 Eagle Talon awd tsi with out hurting it ;)
I've done some searching but haven found much for my year 1991. Thanks in advance!

If you don't have the tool to cut the butyl rubber holding the window in it is difficult. You may want to ask a glass company how much to take it out for you.

Or, I have heard of people using wire (like piano wire) to saw through and remove it, but you have to either cut or drill a spot for the wire to go through first.

Maybe practice some techniques on the remnants of the broken one.

I'm not in front of my car to check, but I believe you start through the little panels in the corners of the hatch, at the end of the door, and the row of fasteners across the top.. Be careful the big sections of rear trim do break easily if you start yanking on them or bending them to look for more clips or fasteners. Just take your time.

I'd pull apart the parts car your getting the glass from and then do yours. Grab the little fasteners along the top in cas you break any of yours.

Trim is held in place via plastic clips. Prying it off is one way to remove it, might break a clip or two though.
As far as glass itself goes, it's held on by adhesive. Cutting said adhesive might be tough, but heating up the glass and side of the car will soften it to the point where you can pull the glass off by hand without any tools. Best thing for that would be to park it out in the sun on a hot summer day, but since it's winter you can use an electric heater pointed at the glass from inside of the car.

Go to the junkyard and practice on a 1G there. All the plastic clips are fragile, dried out and will break on you.

My brother used some plastic "Bones" or trim removal tools to work all the trim loose. Even with all his years of autobody experience, he did snap a clips or two. I ended up going to the junkyard and stocking up on them.

The factory uses a tar type of window adhesive. It needs to be removed with some wax and grease remover, or bug and tar remover. It makes a mess so use gloves, razor blades, and lots of lint free paper towels.

To re-install the 1/4 windows I used 3M window adhesive in the large tubes for caulking guns.

Thanks, I've dealt with the butyl before pulling windshields and you aren't kidding that stuff sticks to every thing LOL

I pulled the glass out of a 92 Talon with out any issues. The clips holding the trim on are the hardest part of the process. Once I cleaned up all the crud and broken glass I installed the new glass on my Talon. All is well again, Thanks guy's!

i took them out on my sons 2g and it was a pain . it took me half a day just to take one out . i used a putty knife and i would heat the knife with a torch and work it into the sealer .

A fine guitar string cuts like butter with out heat. Give it a try next time, carb cleaner works well to remove the black gunk so you have a good clean surface to mount the new glass to, just don't get it on the paint.
