Ok, has anyone tried using the clear plastic PVC line for fuel line? I'm definately thinking about using some.

I was looking at the clear with the white brades in particular. That would be pretty cool.

I would recommend SS fuel line. Even the stock rubber line can cause trouble over time. Not where you want to skimp, or just try to make it look good.

If it's intended as a fuel line and rated for the same pressures as your system will be seeing then I retract my statement, and will get some sleep:shhh:

p.s. for EFI or carb boat motors? A carburetor in a typical car only sees ~7 psi of fuel pressure from the pump.

I'm more worried about the heat. I dont know if it has the same heat tollerence as normal PVC.

The motor was EFI.

I'd have a hard time using something that doesn't have any ratings. If it did work, it is ethanol tolerant IIRC, and would be a cheap alternative to -6 AN SS fuel line when switching to E85.

dsm-onster brought up a good point in another post: "At temps over 200 degrees, PCV emits noxious fumes that may affect the effective octane in the combustion chamber."

I don't know how much heat it could be exposed to, but it may be something to consider.

I used that stuff whith my w/i setup. Looks good at first, but turns yellowish from under hood temps over time. I switch to braded ss after that.

You guys know they use that on boat motors right?

Posting some specs on the hose would be helpful. Your car base fuel pressure (if 2g) is 43.5. Since your car adds 1 lbs of fuel pressure for each lbs of boost your going to be seeing 63.5lbs of fuel pressure at 20psi of boost. I'm not sure how you plan on connecting the hoses but plan hose clamps won't be a good idea. I would go with SS or push lock. you could use metal lines to if you won't to save a little money. I am very happy with my SS set up.

You see tho, the fuel would act as a coolant for the lines. That, and this isn't normal PVC.

Thank you. That's exactally what I needed to know. I'm going to look for a high temp make, but if I cant find any I'll go SS.

I use the clear for my catch cans. However, it does say right on the side of the hose, 225psi max pressure....whatever the case, i just use SS and aeroquip fuel lines in my fuel system, thats a part that HAS to function, pretty doesn't matter.

I've never seen a clear pvc or plastic fuel line on a boat EVER that was AYBC certified, so it sounds like some kind of jury rigging to me. You can always talk to someone who works in marine engines about it, but it seems like a waste of time to me. The only thing i've ever seen clear lines on are lawnmowers and dirtbikes/atv's.

Stick with a hose rated for fuel, or stainless braid if you are replacing stock equipment.

Frankly, unless you're running a dyed fuel anyway, it's not like it's going to look that cool anyway. [shrug]

I decided to go with SS line. This is a pain in the ass to put into aeromotive fittings, anyone have any advice. Im putting the tip into the top piece with the threads on the inside, and then attempting to insert the piece with the threads on the outside into the inside-threaded piece, and it just pushes the ss line out.

It just takes practice. There's also a tech write-up here about it.
