First of all this website is the best DSM site Ive been to and i hope i can contribute to it as much as i can. Right now ive been posting at another dsm website but im looking to get help from this site since it looks like theres so much dsmers. Well let me start with my problem. I baught a 1997 gst that crankwalked on the previous owner, i decided to buy it and buy a new engine from tigerjapanese.com. I took the car to a local shop and they put the engine in and other extra parts like a FMIC (dejon tool) a apexi twin chamber BOV and an external o2 dumptube, and a new clutch. Theres also another problem with the car not starting becuase the anti-theft system wont let me turn the car on threw the igniton so the mechanic put some wires were i just connect them to the battery and the car turns on, is there anyway i can fix this? The mechanic did a really bad hack job installing the FMIC and other things in the car, the radiator doesnt even fit because of the intercooler pipes so i decided to take the car home how it is and fix it up myself. Heres a link of my other thread that has been going on since i got the car I Need Help ASAP (got pics) - DSMsource.com Forums

Here are some pics of the hack job the mechanic did

ddid you swap to a 6 bolt engine or did you keep the 7 bolt?
As far as the bov tube on the intake, go to autozone and buy a large vacuum plug. Ask an associate there and they will help you find it.

Please tell me you didnt pay that mechanic his asking price. That job he did is awful and I would take the car back and either tell him to fix it right or youll take him to court or something

If that were me i would tear it down and fix the hackjob wiring and intercooler. Good luck, Looks like you have some work on your hands.

Yea i dont want to deal with that guy ever again, and i did not pay him his full asking price he was asking 1600 but i just paid him 900 dollars. I didnt do the 6-bolt conversion i kept the 7-Bolt.

do you have a maft why arent you recirculating with a 2g maf? I would take all your ic pipe off install your radiator and install the pipe around it if it doesnt work tell that mechanic to make it work the inter cooler is off center twards the driverside thats why you have clearance issues in that corner. how much did you pay for all this to be installed. security system is a piss poor excuse for not getting your car running. security system control ignition which mean the car wouldnt start or stay running even if you arc the starter did you get a receipt

I did get a receipt i payed 900 dollars i didnt pay his full asking price since he didnt finish.
The car does run after i turn it on, it just doesnt want to start with just the key.

Thats a wiring problem that your mechanic overlooked. You might want to go through your harness to see if he missed anything Is the starter hooked up?

I would sue his ass.. That is the worst install I have ever seen.. He for sure didnt know what the hell he was doing, because he didnt even recirculate the BOV.. And the radiator isnt even tied down.. even the worst mechanics use zip ties.. haha

WOW man sorry to see what happened. That looks like its more trouble than its worth. If it was me( ANd I have put together many a car) I would take it to DSG( Dent Sport Garage) they are in Norwood. Alea, Bill and the guys are the Best IMO in Mass with DSM's. Side note I would not even paid that crook 900$ for the mess he gave you back. ID you paid with a credit card I would send them the pics and fight it all the way. Here is the web link to DSG DSG Dent Sport Garage - Olympus Rally with BTM Sport and phone number is (781) 551-3399. Again man sorry to see and here what happened to you and your car. Good luck with her.

Heres an update on the car, once i got home i started working on it. The fogs had to go and also did some rust that was sanded out .

That hose I believe goes from the charcoal canister (The part that is shown with no hose in the pics) and it goes to the intake snorkel.

The piece that connects the turbo to the filter, that looks like an accordion is the intake snorkel. The piece you have circled in the pictures under the battery tray is the charcoal canister. Their should be a hose going from one to the other...

You should return to the mechanics place with an axe and talk to him about getting your money back. Then when you receive your money, use the axe anyway, then take the car to a real mechanic who specializes in wiring. Get your starter issue fixed, then find a fabricator to fix your i/c pipes.

Also nice job on the rust removal and clean up of the core support. It looks like you took your time and did it right.

It looks like you're have to pull the engine out again and set it in properly. Everything should fit the same as it was before. The mechanic did do a sloppy job and if you find a away to make it run like it is now it will bite you in the ass later.

And I wouldn't dare to drive it with the new clutch looking at the way he did his job.

I like that you cleaned up the rust.... and painted it. good work. Would have been nicer though to color match.... but no one sees that area anyways.

As for the charcoal canister, you can either just go buy some vacuum line that fits over the nipple and connect it to the intake snorkle ... or remove all the emmissions garbage. Search for taboo. However, if your state requires emissions testing, then this won't be an option for you.

I know you are going to hear this alot, but you should have done it yourself. The mechanic did piss poor quality of work. Also, there is no reason the Dejon FMIC should not fit if you follow the directions. Dejon makes good products and enough people are running the kit with out the issues you are seeing.

Alright after reading a few threads i think that its ok if i leave that hose from the charcoal canister open.

Heres an update ive made so much progress and it feels good doing it myself. I left that outlet from the charcoal canister open, i already installed my FMIC and all the pipping my radiator fit right in and all my pipes fit perfect. Tomorrow im going to put my front bumper on and im just waiting on a cold air intake i ordered last night. After that i need to take it to a shop so they can fix the problem of my car not turning on with the key its probably a wiring problem. Does anyone know a good DSM mechanic near northeastern MA? Ill try to post up some ics tomorrow

:rocks:

You should look into the stock alarm unit hidden somewhere underneath your dash. I disconnected mine and I was out of a car for 2 weeks because I didn't know what was wrong with my car. When I connected back the alarm box...it started up!

I got a friend in lawrence that knows about factory alarms, he actually disconnected my stock alarm and put the compustar which includes already a turbo timer and a remote start. I dont think a mechanic would know anything about alarms and wires. And i can tell why you had to do everything all over again...and that's because you took your car to one of those Backyard lawrence mechanics....:notgood:

Alright heres an update

The Good
-FMIC is installed the right way
-Front bumper is now bolted on right
-radiator fits perfectly

The car looks totally different now that ive worked on it myself im planning on painting the rims gold.

THE BAD
-The oil pressure meter is all the way up to the top on the stock dash gauge
-When i was able to turn the car on it sounded like it wasnt getting enough air
- When i rev the car up to like 6rpm's the car shuts down
- I still cant turn the car on threw the ignition with the key i still have to do it direct with a wire running from the starter to the battery.
-The car doesnt want to start anymore with the wire running from the starter:cry:
-The radiator fan isnt working

Well i think the car has some wiring issues or the anti-theft system, on the dash it also says anti-lock Any help would be GREAT. Does anyone know of a good DSM mechanic near north eastern MA?

I almost forgot its my prom this friday so im going crazy spending money here in there so im really stressed any help would be great thanks.
