I've been collecting parts for a few months now for a 4g64 6 bolot wideblock build for a friends 1st gen mighty max 4x4 truck.
The Engine will be using a 6 bolt head and a toyota r150 trans, which will actually hold up to the power.
Anyhow, im looking for high 300 whp with the truck. I'm pretty sure I can easily do this with the hx35 setup Id like to run, but if budget kicks in I will just run a evo 3 16g.
As of right now, these are the current parts collected
block and crank of course
acl oil pump
acl race bearings
wiseco pistons
eagle rods
arp head studs
arp rod hardware
gates kevlat 63 timing belt
starion act extreme pressure plate with a 7mgte act sprung 6 puck disc
11lbs fidanza flywheel
1g bridged caps
Parts im searching for
a set of 272 cams, undecided on the make. I already tried delta to see if they could make the k272, but they are out of billet blanks for the forseeable future.
hks adjustable cam gears, hoping to find a used set
dsm link v3 setup for speed density
850cc injectors, although im a little worried I may run out of fuel running race gas and whatever the hx35 could make
bep .55 mitsu housing
hx35 8 blade
top mount td05h flanged exhaust manifold
cyclone intake manifold
jays racing water neck relocation
So my goal is to get the engine spooling the turbo asap, we are not concerned too much for maximum hp, as it is actually going to be a functioning 4x4 truck, and expected to do halfway decent on some trails, but it wont be a wheeler by any means. I figure with the hx35 in a bep td05h .55 housing, along with a working cyclone intake, maybe I can get it spooling close to 3krpm Which is probably faster than a evo 3 16g with a bit more head room.
WHat do you guys think? I'd love to see a bit over 400whp on the truck, but frankly, the trucks going to suck to drive until he gets some decent tires on it anyways, and will probably end up being driven at much lower boost.
Any suggestions on a decent set of cams for a 64? From what I have read pretty much any 272 63 cam will help spool the turbo faster ironically.
Another spot im undecided on is if I want to go with a metal shim of composite head gasket. I;d love some input on that. I have read a bit, but it always seems 50 50. I'd be decking the head and block if I went metal shim.
Like I said this build is for a good friend, we already rebuilt the truck a few years back with a bone stock g54b, and its been fun, but we have been toying with the idea of making it stupid for awhile, and it's game on.
Here are a few pics. I did a quick mock up with some of my parts on his block, but thats a 64 wideblock with a bill hincher bell housing bolted to a 96 tacoma r150 5 speed along with one of my modded 1g manifolds on top of a 6 bolt head.
The actual truck. It's not going to win any beauty contests, but it should suprise a few people.
Anyhow, Thanks for the help
Shaun
