I can't find the jack to lift the car and change the oil. I had it enter through the BOV line. All the smoke has cleared but I'm afraid the leave it sitting overnight w/out changing the oil. Will I be alright?

Acutally, I was just reading the can and it said that you can put it in the oil. I'm guessing it probably breaks down all the nasty grime and buildup. So I think it's defiantely safe to say that you can drive it for a little bit. Hell, it might even help.

Bob, there is more then one way to use SeaFoam:

1. Thru intake: cleans intake, and cleans carbon off the pistons. Cleans combustion chamber.

2. In gas tank: Cleans fuel tank, lines, injectors. Also helps clean the combustion chamber a little.

3. In the oil: acts like an "engine flush" in your engine, like ATF would, as example.

So it depends on what you are trying to accomplish as to where you put the SeaFoam in your car. There is a huge thread on seafoam, use the search, you will see it's like 12 pages long. That's the post you want to be reading if trying to decide where to use seafoam.

Since he ran it in his intake, it just means he cleaned some carbon, and some of the crap that came off the pistons may be in his oil. So it's a good idea to change it ASAP, but if he has to drive it a while, he will be fine.

I have read that post many times but it seems to me like people jsut poor it in the gas tank or take off air filter and poor some in there or poor some in there oil in, becasue there are no pictures. I always wanted pictures becasue these methods seem like they would mess up the car to me. Thanx for the reply, also i plan to do all three of these methods for the maximum effect. Do i use a hole can for each? Also i plan to o just as i said and poor it in these places. Is that correct? I always thought it went through vacum lines?Sorry i know there is a huge post on this im just really nervous i will do something stupid and ruin car.

Try driving your passenger side tires up onto the curb. That should give you just enough space to squeeze an oil pan underneath!

Bob,

I just did the seafoam in the intake thing. Not sure if it made a difference, cause I replaced hte fuel filter right before hand. Based on the color of smoke, it looks like it burned some crap out. The car has 200K on it, so I think I will do it once a year from now on.

But I will not add it to my oil, because I do not want to dislodge any crap that's coating the inside of my engine, that could get into the bearings. I highly recomend you change your oil if you haven't yet. Have you? I wouldn't leave it in there for more then a few hundred miles at most. Yes you can leave it in there, but better safe then sorry. My car has 200K on it, so it's worse or more risky for me then you I suppose.

How to run seafoam thru your intake:
There is a vacum hose that goes from the brake thingy to the intake (this is on a 1G, not sure about others.

With the car turned off, take the end of the hose off of the brake thingy, you need plyers cause there is a clamp holding it in place.

Then, simply start the car, and suck the seafoam in thru that intake house, while it's running. Use a half can per treatment, is what I say. It works good if you rev the engine to about 2K while it sucks it in.

When you get to be about finished, stop revving it, just keep it at idle, and try to suck a little extra towards the end, then turn off the car immediately.

Let the car sit 10-15 minutes.

Start the car, let it idle, drive it until it stops smoking (and yes, it will smoke during this entire process).

Keep in mind: I noticed when I went to drive the car (with seafoam still in the intake), if I tried to give it too much gas, it would ping. Drive it kinda gentle, till it all burns out. I don't know if it's just my car, but when that seafoam is in there, you can't rev it too high, or especially when it's under load, you can't drive it too fast. The engine will ping, which is bad for it. I don't know why all these people say go drive the hell out of it to burn the seafoam out, cause it's not a good idea.

That's about it, it's really pretty easy to do.

Just make sure and put the brake hose back on the car, before you drive it, or you won't have shit for brakes, and could get into an accident.
