My friends 90 talon has been acting up since hes got it running again after 5 years. He drained the gas, sealed all vacuum/boost leaks, and changed fuel pumps because his car wouldnt start because no fuel pressure. The fuel pump he put in is a 255 walbro. If he presses in the throttle any more than 10%, it revs to 2500 and sounds like antilag, but if he presses it very lightly itll rev passed that. It also does this when driving. Heres a video of it.

I would probably start by checking stuff. Does it have the correct fuel pressure now? Are all the sensors giving values that are within normal parameters?
Judging by the stock boost gauge behavior it has a major boost leak.
Haha im at a loss now, I went through and checked all the clamps, everything is tight. He doesnt have an exhaust, its the the o2 housing and thats it, and when hes driving it, once he gets passed that point of crap, itll boost and pull just fine.

That's not a boost leak test, unless your hand is a compressed air source, and the car is off.
i just dont have access to one at the moment. I just know if you remove the intake and start the car then put your hand over the turbo. the air wont be able to go through the turbo, so itll try to pull vacuum from another source. If there isnt a leak itll shut off.

Any leak that big would kill the car also. What hes trying to tell you is quit trying to find another way. If you lack the proper tools at the moment at least take off the pipes and inspect. Check intercooler too. Checking the clamps isnt enough.

Hes running a 255 walbro on all stock. Could that be an issue?

255 should not be like that and certainly wouldnt react as stated. This almost sounds ignition related. Light throttle equals light gas. just watched the video again. I concur with the above, huge leak somewhere. I wouldn't even bother with diagnosis without a proper leak test or at a BARE minimum complete physical inspection of the intake from turbo outlet to throttle body. Do not rule out hard parts like the intercooler. Ive seen the end pipes fall off stockers from corrosion.

Yea I vote big leak also. As when I had my side mount hard pipe popped off my interloper, it would act like that. I barely got it home like that, but was missing and popping and making a huge hissy fit that was very similar to your issue their. :idontknow:

You did say that you guys sealed all leak, did u pressurize the system and find leaks and sealed them? Or just tightened all couplers down? Either way you need to pressurize the system. If no leaks found, then we go from their. :thumb:

Update, i drove behind him and when he would give it gas, it would be big clouds of black smoke. When he gets passed the point where its doing that in the video itll boost fine and drive fine.
