I purchased a walbro 190 for my 1g 1990 talon tsi, i followed the vfaq instructions and it seemed like it went pretty smoothly. The first time i started it, it worked fine and idled great. I turned off my car went inside to wash my hands then came back out to leave and it was like it was completely dead. I checked the battery it was fully charged and i had power to my lights and everything besides my radio. ??? any ideas?

When you turn the key to start the car, do you hear the fuel pump going?

There are two fuse boxes, one inside of the car and one under the hood.

I think you should check your wiring at the fuel pump. On top of that you should have the fuel pump rewired.

Key on, you should hear the pump power on. Especially that walbro. If you dont, you know the pump is not receiving power or the ground is bad.

Does it turn over but not start?

If so, did you depressurize the fuel system before switching pumps?

i turn the key and it won't turn over and i can't hear the pump. i put th stock pump back in to check if it worked and still the same thing. and yes i depressurized the system.

The 1g doesnt power up the pump with the key on like the 2g. The pump will not turn on at all until the engine spins over.

If all you did was replace the pump without rewiring, I dont see how you could have blown any fuses. Just to be on the safe side, check the fuses under the hood on the pass side.

I would also check the clutch start switch on the clutch pedal. Right where the switch makes contact with the pedal, there is a rubber bushing. If the bushing falls out, the switch will just go through the bushing hole and not depress like it is supposed to. I had the same issue once when working on my exhaust and it took a while for me to figure it out. I didnt even touch the bushing but over time, it had dry rotted and for some reason, picked that day to fall apart.
