hey i did the "keydance" thing on my 95 eclipse GS and got back the code 36 for Pulsed secondary air injection solenoid circuit. i searched for info about it but all i found was that it n the throttle body and that its a recall i think. what i wanted to know is what it means and where it is located? also is i something i can fix? id rather not go to a dealership even if it would be free.. thanx

Hey Im new to the forum thing but I just ran into this problem today. I couldnt find the ECU codes anywhere so I had a friend look it up for me and he had me hating my MAP sensor for the past 2 weeks, thanks to these guys though I figured it out for myself.

Im not much of a mechanic but I like to play with things myself, a couple weeks ago I took out the airbox and put in my own cold air backyard style, it took it a while for the check engine light to come up but I god code 12 36 55,

36 Pulsed Secondary Air Injection Solenoid

So I ran some frustrating tests on the solenoid down there but it came up fine, but I noticed that the pipe leading to the exhaust and the valve itself were all but rusted away. So I got out the welder and picked up a new valve ( Air Bypass Valve schucks called it, think it was $5) and did a little research before I started wrenching. Becareful if you have to replace the valve, from what I found its common for the threaded part of the pipe to break off, and just my luck it did ;P

anyways I replaced that with some quick work from the wire feed and made sure it was all air tight and thought I was good to go, unfortunately Im still getting the code. So I spent all night digging through these forums following all the newbie tips I could find, and I found this

36 Too Little Or too Much Secondary Air

So Im thinking either because of where I have that house routed ( to nothing ### of my custom intake ;P) its pulling a weird amount of air, so im gonna go fab something to control the airflow myself here in a couple minutes, I hope the neighbors dont mind. Ill post back with what I come up with when I get a break.

I hope that helps in some way because its been driving me nuts and making my car run doggish for a while now. It doesnt seem like it would effect performance but I swear it tacs out slower and gets horrible gas mileage now.

I'd suggest getting your hands dirty and getting in there yourself and just disasembling the second line from your airbox to the exhaust and going over it, thats how I solve problems, a little bit of clean can go a long ways. If that isnt your thing Id definatly spend a little more time digging through the forums, think outside the box for your problem searching though, ANYTHING related can be a major help.

GL I'll post back soon.

The Pulsed secondary air injection was I believe only on 95 non turbos. There was recall for the pulsed secondary air injection, you are supposed to take your car to the dealer and have it removed and they will re-flash the ecu so it dose not give the CEL. There is no use in trying to fix it, it was recalled for a reason.
