Pulling the GUTZ!

Hey Guys, just starting to get the work done on my 97 GSX. I had a 98 GS a while back, and did a trans swap with practically no trouble at all. I pulled the engine and trans at the same time with the GS. Now my question about the GSX. Would i be better off seperating the engine from the trans, and removing, or just pull it all out at once? Im really only doing anything with the engine, so i dont need the transmission out. So i figured i would make my first post a stupid one!

ANY input is greatly appreciated.

P.S. What is a decent ECU to use to program myself, and an affordable cost?

For pulling the motor it will be easier to pull them together, motor and trans.
As far as ecu you have many options. Browse through the tuning/engine management section and look at what people are using. Also to save you in the future both of these questions have been answered many times before, use the search button next time before you post a new thread.

+1 Pulling engine and trans. all at once is easier.

+2 pull it together. Ha i undid all my motor mounts once and had my tranny up on a jack, while pullnig the motor away from the trans, the input shaft wouldnt come out. I stopped to get a smoke and it slipped out, and smashed on the floor, bellhousing went everywhere. Ever since then, I just pull em together. Just make sure you put it on the picker first, then undo mounts, then you need an engine stabilizer to tilt the motor down on the left, and then lift it out!! Axles pop out of the tranny, take one wheel off, pop off the top ball joint and your axles can move a little more freely.
