Hi. I am a fairly new DSM owner and bought a 95 GST that needed some work. I have spent last few weeks taking and cleaning most everything out of the engine but now its the blocks turn. I have the Head,Mani,Turbo just about everything out except for the AC/Alter/ and such on the side of engine. I wanted to pull the block out this weekend but it seems I cant get to straight on answer on if the Block can be pulled w/o the transmission. It is an automatic(dont know if this matters but thought I would throw it in). I have the Hayne's Manual and have read it inside and out but this is my first time and would like help from more experienced people.

Thanks for viewing. Hope to hear from you soon.

Also if anyone has a nice link to a video or a "How to" I would love to read it. I found one on site a little while ago but it didnt answer much.

Yes the block can be pulled W/O the transmission.
Remove starter.
Go under the car and remove the bolt's that are attached from your Flywheel to the transmission.
Then all you do is unbolt the transmission from the block.
Then remove the Mounts holding the block.

Thanks! As long as I can get my hoist this weekend this baby is coming out!

Why not pull the tanny/engine out as one? You'll wish you had when you go to put it back in. It is a pita to get the bolt holes for the converter and drive plate to line back up with the tranny in the car.

yes it can be done i have done it 2 times already. to make it a little easier though you may wanna unbolt some of the trans mounts and support it with a jack to make your life a little easier
