Pulled threads out of head at manifold

Help, While removing 3 nuts from the exhaust manifold the studs came out with them along with the threads from the weak ass aluminum head. What do I do now? Thanks

Helicoil.

Yep, helicoil would be the way to go. Or actually what i'd do would be drill and tap a larger hole for a larger stud.

Never had this happen, someone must have had their way with those threads, deliverance style. Helicoils are stronger than the original tapped hole. Bigger studs are stonger too. One or two of those go into oil, so be sure to get all the chips out.

I did it when I was torquing my cams in on on my 420a rebuild. What a sinking feeling! I read the wrong torque spec. It's pretty easy to put a helicoil in and you'll keep your stock size stud too.

Happened to me on my 7bolt head... used (2) helicoils with no problems

I just did 3 helicoil inserts on mine and replaced the stock studs with the manny ARP stainless studs from FFWDconnection....looks great and feels super strong
