The only way to do it would be to weld a pipe "around" the wastegate hole and then attached your external to that or you could get the center section welded back up. In either case I don't think it would last/hold.

"In my opinion" your best bet would be external off the manifold and have that WG hole sealed up.

If you were to run an external gate off of the O2 housing, then yes it would work. The wastegate is only going to open at a certain amount of pressure, so until you reached that pressure it would be fully sealed. So no exhaust leaks, because wether you have the divided, or undivided O2 housing flange, when you run an external off of it, there will be exhaust gases passing through the hole where the internal gate used to be anyway. Hope this helps you out.

Are you planning on buying the O2 housing or making it yourself?

ahh yes I misunderstood. Thought he was talking about an external dump O2 housing...

I did too at first, then I went back and re-read again and realized he was talking about an external wastegate. But hadn he not been, you would have been 110% correct.

It's gonna run like crap, here's why:

1.) Even with the external closed, exhaust is going to follow the path of least resistance which is out the WG pass thru and thru the cut divider (e.g. bypassing the turbine entirely). Not to say 100% of the exhaust will go this route, but a good amount will causing slow spool and likely limited boost.

2.) Since the you would be exposing the External to both pre-turbine exhaust (from the WG Pass thru) and post-turbine exhaust (thru the cut divider), when (if) it does hit the preset boost limit and opens, you'd likely get creep/surge or a combination thereof since only pre-turbine exhaust affects boost level.

Options Best to Worst (IMO):

- Best bet would be to trade someone who has creep with the same turbine housing but not "modified" like yours.

- You could also present this piece to a decent welder with the gasket as a template and have him fill the sectioned area with weld and then mill the whole flange smooth and "tweek" the inside profile with a dremmel/grinder.

- Jiging a tube thru the O2 flange to seat over the WG outlet hole annd then tacking it up could work too (with some expected leaks), but leaving the dividor uncut would likely cause bad turbulance and diminish the efficiency of an already "small" turbine housing.

Good luck :dsm:

BTW.. didn't you just buy a used SBR GT-14?

Is this in replacement or are you just a used turbo whore :p :dsm:[/QUO

NO the non ball bearing gt35 is my friends turbo he just bought it from a kid on tuners ..i agree with u wiseman it will not work the owner of the turbo thinks it will so i had to make this tread and the turbo i own is a full gt3582RLE bolt on :thumb:

Guess i have to weld that door shut and go with a manifold mounted gate. Guess my vp o2 will be up for sale now :(

LOL all of a sudden i only have 4 post haha
