Figured I’d make a post about this since I haven’t really seen anyone mention it, and hopefully it’ll help someone else out who’s planning on running the Magnus billet transfer case front housing on an automatic DSM. recently finished assembling my transfer case using the Magnus billet front housing, Boostin Performance billet mid-section, and Magnus billet gears. Everything went together fine during assembly, but when it came time to install the transfer case onto the car, I ran into a fitment issue with the front housing.
From what I can see, a decent amount of material needs to be removed from the housing for it to properly clear and fit. This isn’t something you can just bolt on and go on any auto dsm from what it seems. I reached out to TMZ Performance about it, and he mentioned that this is actually a known issue with these housings on automatic DSMs, and the Magnus team is aware of this and has not don’t anything to revise it.. Which surprised me because I haven’t really seen anything posted about it, nor was there anything mentioned in the listing about modifications being required. I’m not against modifying parts when necessary, especially when building these cars at this level. My issue is spending this kind of money on a billet housing that’s advertised for our cars, only to find out afterward that it requires additional machining or grinding to fit properly. Not everyone has access to a Bridgeport or machine shop, and this is definitely something that should be mentioned before purchasing. Just wanted to put this information out there for anyone considering this setup so they know what to expect beforehand. I’ll attach some pictures showing exactly where the interference is and some photos of other people having to modify such a beautiful piece to fit. Now it varies on converters and bolts , some just needs a notch to clear and some needs to remove a lot of material on the side as one person showed me.
