but i dont think thats all that broke, the car wont budge under its own power, so i think the axle is part one of the damage....but i have to work on homework for tommorow, so i wont be tearing her apart today, but im down to the center diff or xfer case, not sure which

yeah, that would be impressive if it was a 4bolt, but its a 3 bolt...:notgood:

check this out

....so i just went outside to check on the car for the first time since it broke, and was going to put it into gear to see if the back shaft that broke would spin so i would know if the back was getting power. When my roomate put it in first...the car went forward. then reverse, the same.... how could this be when it was completly dead in the in the water when it broke? Im thinking possibly something as stupid as the linkage got jacked up around the same time the axle snapped. Who knows! So i guess im going to try to drill and tap the shaft thats still in the rear diff, throw a bolt in it and try to pull it out so i can throw the next axle in there. Im just over here laughing right now because im stumped as to why the car now moves on its own power.

Yeah I think I would rather find the fix to a problem and FIX it instead of the car doing it for me....nothing against my baby but....leave the mechanic's to me ol faithful ;)

no, i agree, i was seriously ready to drop the trans and tear her apart, but now im completly stumped. It just doesnt really make too much sense, so i guess ill throw a new axle on it and just try to drive and see if it feels normal or if theres something that feels off... i may put it up on stands too and just check that all 4 wheels are spinning like they're supposed to

It just seems unrealistic to me that you can run 12s with such little money.More power to you if you pull it off.I know its probably harder up here cause the elevation is like 5000ft.So at sea level or closer to it you may have a better shot.

I did something like this before....I needed a daily driver so...

Over 3 years ago I bought a 90 Laser RS-T for $300

All 90 lasers are FWD.

Stock Blown out suspension, 130k.

______________________________________________
Re-wired STOCK fuel pump -$0 extra wire laying around

NT FPR (raises base pressure a bit) Free from junkyard :)

Removed Stock Turbo and used my Drill to do a Ghetto Ass port Job on the Turbine housing and stock 1G manifold....I also used the bit to shave/sharpen the ends of the turbine wheel a bit. (ghetto wannabe clip) I used a Carbide bit from Home Depot --$15

Hacked MAS= Free

Open Downpipe = Free

Plug line to wastegate = Free

Autozone Boost gauge 0-20psi (it was usually pegged LOL) $25

With Turbo Blue 110 Leaded and base timing advanced 5 degrees I ran a 12.8@107 2.2 60' $30

Full interior minus Spare. (90 laser did not weight much anyway stock(

Total Cost = $300 for the Car and $70 in misc mods $370

$370 12.8@107 2.2 60' FRONT WHEEL DRIVE

Wow, that sucked a little. 2 hours to drop the rear end and put it back in, not to bad, didnt mind that at all, 3 hours trying to figure out how to get the piece of axle still stuck in the rear end out and 3 trips to ACE. All in all though, after breaking a few steel cables, i created a tool(on rent for 15$ a day to any who need it! LOL that finally pulled it, a long solid extension bar, sledge hammer, and 2 people standing on the rear diff...

tool of the day.

I got another rear end from one of the parts cars from the shop just to get it back on the road and it runs so much better, the rear end ate itself also so i just replaced everything. Im a little frustrated because the weather's been terrible here and i havent really been able to do anything and now that its getting nicer.....i broke my rib on spring break, and im supposed to be in a sling for another few weeks but i wore it for about 2 days, drove me nuts. Alls to say though is ive been buying parts to throw on it while i cant do anything else so should be a matter of time before i can get everything put on, ill just have to be careful with my rib.
