Problems with my car in the shop.

Ok so heres the story.
I currently have a 96 mitsubishi eclipse GS about 2 weeks ago i either blew a piston or spun a bearing. (i cant remeber what he said) So i told him instead of gettin new parts i can give him a short block from a 99 mitsubishi eclipse RS. ok so the 99 eclipse short block was overbored so he told me the pistons wouldnt fit and i told him to put the short block i gave him into my 96 eclipse and then he said that the transsmision wont bolt up to it? The 99 eclipse had a manual tranny and the 96 has a auto tranny. He told me the transsmision is a little to big thats why it wont be able to bolt up?

Can anyone help me out on this? They have the same engine so why would the dimensions be different? I don't know if it makes a diffrence but the 96 is one of the early ones.

Tell him he's a retard. All 420a's will bolt up regardless of tranny.

Yes i do know the diffrence between the two . I spent alot of time on the 99 RS and trust me it was a 420a block in it.
